INFORMATION and PLOT
Centuries ago, an enormous nuclear explosion desecrated the Earth. It ravaged the landscape, creating twisted monsters wherever it touched, and caused land to become infertile. A group of survivors banded together, and toiled day and night with all of their resources to create an enormous wall. They named it the
WALL MURMUS.
The gigantic wall spanned thousands of feet, completely encasing it's own tiny world inside. There were 300 people selected for 'salvation' within the wall. They built a city within its confines that, over time, became lavish and grand. They named it '
AVALON.'
However, there were still thousands of people left outside the protective wall to fend for themselves against the horrors the world had created. They had to learn to fight, and to kill. Bandits and raiders were people who had given up and cared only for themselves. They attacked and stole from anyone weak enough to fall to their blades. The abominations created by the explosions' shockwave were forces to contend with themselves. They wielded claws, fangs, anything they could to hunt and kill the people of
LEMURIA, or, the 'lost land,' as its inhabitants called it.
Now, people have forgotten that life exists on the other side of the wall. The people on the inside are content in their small lives, and the people on the outside have given up on salvation. The name '
MURMUS' becomes synonymous with the 'edge of the earth.' It became common knowledge that nothing existed on the other side. Life was as they made it, nothing more and nothing less. There were no hidden truths, only the wall and what lay on their side.
This is where our story begins.

Physical Description:
Hair: Brown, short, parted to one side.
Clothes: Animal furs, cloth scraps, some metal plating.
Interesting Features: Is 5'8", over 200 pounds, doesn't look like much of a fighter really.

She'd lost her entire family to the monsters when she was 18, but managed to kill them. She had been trained since the age of 5 to hunt and kill. There is one person she loves that's behind the wall, though, and hopes to bring him on the outside with her.
Personality:
Reinhild is tenacious and stubborn, and stuck in her ways. She's not very lady-like, quite tomboyish in mannerisms. She easily gets jealous, hence her hatred for most people on the inside. She has little empathy, but she tries to be compassionate when it matters. Around people she has a crush on, she tries way too hard to impress them. Around threats, she tries to look tough, but often needs to use her actual toughness.
Name: Joakim Isenberg

Gender: Male
Do they live inside the wall or out: Inside
Occupation (job/school ect): The owner of a mining company.

Joakim is a little bit of an egotist, although he is still confident. He has a surprising soft side, and is protective. He enjoys cooking, and will only eat stuff he cooks. He tries to act better than the people on the outside, but just can't bring himself to do it despite the fact that one of them killed his father.

The vast wasteland was not without its wildlife, that was for certain. Mutated bugs, reptiles, amphibians, even small mammals. The area, though taken by the radiation, seemed to be flourishing with life once more. Reinhild was thankful for that, as that meant more food, not to mention more work to be done for a biologist. Her fingers caressed the spiked elytra of a mutated beetle, which hadn't pricked her.
A low growling could be heard, but she simply ignored it in favor of her work. Whatever it was, it could be dealt with later. She carried her sword with her, just in case something were to jump out at her. She'd already killed several monsters today, mostly for study purposes. She couldn't stop thinking about her grim surroundings, and how wonderful life could have been if she'd been born in Avalon.
Two giant, hooked claws attempted to seize her, but only succeeded in slicing into her side. She turned around, unsheathing the sword. The wide, gaping maw of the creature was entirely lined with teeth. Blood gripped from its maw, down to its torso, and into a vertical mouth placed where a navel would go. That, too, was filled with shredding teeth. It had no neck to speak of, and bulging black eyes.
It grappled for her, trying to break her arms. She ran it through with her sword, which did not do much good. It tried again, this time kicking with his heavy, muscle-bound legs. She swung her sword, severing the limb. It was able to stand on its remaining leg, though, using its lanky arms to swing at her again. Two more swings severed those, too.
The creature succeeded in headbutting her chest, sending her tumbling down. It let out a loud, maniacal cackle as she attempted to get up. It pinned her ankle with one of its feet-claws, blood leaking profusely from the wound. She sneered, aimed the sword for its last foot, and sliced away. It fell back, no more limbs for it to use. Taking the creature's foot out of her ankle, Reinhild rose to her feet.
"Let's see what's inside you."
She made several slices with the sword, each one revealing another section of pulsing guts. Each and every organ inside was then dissected carefully, so that their insides could be observed. The creature had obviously died, yet its insides still twitched and jiggled as they were poked and prodded.
---
Joakim reclined in his office chair, swiveling it slightly in time with the ticking of his clock. It was about time for everyone to leave work at his mining company, but he still felt tired enough to take a nap. The secretary didn't bring enough coffee, nor did she turn the heat down for him. His eyes almost closed, but the chair tipped back too much and he fell back with a crash.
"Are you okay, sir?" One of the random employees asked.
"I'll be fine. Just help me up, and I'll let you go home early."
"Sir, it's already time to go home."
"Alright, get me up here and I won't fire you."

Onya had been tailing the young woman most of the day, watching her poking and prodding around the insides of the abominations that wandered the land. At first, she thought the woman might be needing some help, but that soon turned into admiration as she watched how well the woman had dealt with any impending danger. Especially the one she was currently poking around.
Those particular monsters had a reputation for being especially nasty and in some cases Onya had witnessed, not so easy to kill. But the woman, although taking some damage, seemed to deal with him with a graceful ease and that impressed Onya.
Using the back of her hand, wrapped in black cloth, she brushed away some beads of sweat that had gathered on her forehead. It was a hot one. She adjusted her pony tail and attempted to brush back some stray strands of her raven colored hair to no avail as they simply fell back into place.
Slipping her sword into its holder attached to her side, she stretched once and cleared her throat, as not to startle the woman as she approached.
"Pretty nice work there," She said in a friendly tone, gesturing towards the body.
---
The day had been rather uneventful. Only a handful of people had stopped by for some weapon and tool modification, but that was fine with Firel. He was glad the work day had come to a close.
He wasn't bad at his job, not in any sense of the word. But he was bored with it. And to the 25 year old black smith, bordom was the bane of his existence. Carefully putting back his tools and making sure the door was locked securely behind him, Firel started off towards the outskirts of town.
It was his habit, at the closing of each work day, to take to wandering the areas near the wall, always wondering what was on the other side of it. Perhaps it was childish of him, but sometimes he wondered what adventures, if any, waited on the other side of the wall.

Reinhild had paused poking around for a few moments, using a sketchpad to take notes of the abomination's innards alongside detailed drawings. She hypothesized, by the position and physiology of the organs, what their functions were. Liver analogue, what could loosely be defined as a heart, the central nervous system, two stomach-like sacs, and so on. She sketched, based on memory, what the creature looked like prior to dismemberment. A cursory flip through her sketchbook would reveal that most of her drawings were more of the same, but of different mutants and their anatomical features.
She let out a quick sigh, scarcely remembering him; his permanently mussed-up brown hair, those icy eyes, his rugged stubble...err, right. Underneath her tough exterior, she did feel a little bit of loneliness that her studies couldn't fill. Despite her self-published works on the anatomy of the abominations, and how far they got her, there was still something missing in her life. Or, rather, someone.
She heard a voice, music to her ears. The life of a warrior-biologist didn't grant much time to make friends, so whenever someone was able to make her acquaintance, she was thankful. She turned, seeing a black-haired woman. Despite her vigilance, she hadn't noticed the woman even though she'd been following her.
"Thank you", Reinhild couldn't quite manage a grin, since she didn't have very much control of her facial expressions.

This is a declaration of resignation from my position for the period of one month. I will be taking a hiatus from all manner of electronics, including cell phone and email. Should an emergency arise, please contact my apprentice Nicolai Harper, who will be assuming my role in my absence. He is more than qualified enough for the job and I rest my faith entirely in his ability.
I formally forfeit any additional vacation time I have accumulated over the span of 10 years.
He understood everything he input into the keyboard, yet that didn't make them sound any less foreign.
Today was the day Tomo would take his long-awaited vacation time. After years of refusing to accept even a day off from his busy laboratory duties, the time had come where his curiosity surpassed his strict work ethic. Better yet, couldn't he say this wasn't really a "vacation", but moreso a business of research in the name of science?
Perhaps his desires had influenced him enough to create such a cover-up--'no technology'? Please! Not only was he going to take some of his greatest inventions along with him, but he was going to take along as many as he physically could on this grand journey.
Tomo polished off the remainder of his letter and emailed it off to the respective government officials who needed to be notified before reclining in his leather chair to gaze up at the giant towering screen of his computer in thought. To abandon his beloved workspace, the cockpit of his daily routine...perhaps if it had been a day earlier, he would have talked himself out of such a bold decision. After all, he wasn't the most courageous man behind the wall. But, it was that itching for scientific discovery that had ignited his interest...or was that really it?
No, there was something else. Beyond that wall, the possibility existed that somebody near and dear to him was still alive--maybe it was a small possibility, but a possibility nonetheless. Such a thing was quite a motivation for scientists.
Tomo powered down the computer and rose from his leather chair, shuffling across the tiled floor toward a series of glass tubes in the center of the room. Proudly displayed within them were several odd pieces of machinery, most of them small and compact enough to be stored inside of a suitcase. Good, because that's exactly where they needed to be and that's exactly where he began stuffing them. He was going to take every precaution he could and if it meant taking his entire inventory of gadgets and dislocating his arm trying to pull along the roller he stored them in, then so be it. It would be but a small price to pay in exchange for his life (and personal comfort).
Once he finished packing, he swerved around the corner with his luggage in tow and stepped into his bedroom, opening his closet to pull several pieces of clothing and toiletries from the shelves, most of his outfits being copies of the precious labcoat he hardly ever removed.
Suddenly, with a symphony of beeps, a small circular robot wheeled into the room and climbed on top of Tomo's suitcase, using its antennae to tug at his uniform in a desperate move for attention. This ended up startling the poor scientist and he nearly toppled over in fright, only to crack an embarrassed smile at the intruder.
"Oh...I-I suppose I can't forget about you, can I, Minibot?"
He motioned for the robot to quiet down and he flicked its switch into sleep mode so that it could be easily tucked away among his other things.
Now remained the final task: as much as he didn't enjoy thinking about it, he knew the outside was going to be dangerous. There was always the possibility...that he would not return from this excursion.
Should he have built a weapon first? No, there wasn't the time--nor did he have adequate knowledge to do so. Science was his forte, not ammunition.
He left the room with his possessions and started for the automatic doors to the laboratory exit, looking up the number of the resident blacksmith on his phone. A blacksmith was a little old-fashioned for his tastes, but hey, if they knew what could help fend off a scary creature, he'd appreciate their help.
Tomo dialed it up, only to be answered by a message machine. No wonder, he thought as he checked his watch. However, it was only a few strokes after the hour: perhaps the store clerk was still in and could cut him a quick deal!
With renewed urgency, the scientist burst through the doors and rushed into the city streets following the instruction of his GPS, the heavy suitcase swinging wildly behind him.
How successful he would be maneuvering through the throes of people headed home from work would depend on a force most of his type refused to acknowledge: fate.
((I think I will join with my lil' pirate later, after the ladies get acquainted~))
