I had a perfectly good password with 8 characters, numbers, letters, capital letters, and symbols. Suddenly, I find myself logged out and my password isn't working. I send a new password request and type in the EXACT SAME password as my "new password" only to find that it is now too short. I need 10 characters in my password.
Not even my BANK asks for 10 characters in my password, let alone a silly online dragon game.
I also suggest fixing the random log-out problem. That would be nice.

This is true. If your account keeps getting hacked because you chose too simple a password, the staff have to deal with it and keep helping you get your account/things back.
This is a preventative. If you have a better password (and better usually requires some length) then the situation doesn't happen on either end, at least nowhere near as much.
Some people that hack passwords use a type of script that randomly generates a set amount of keys starting from something like 00000 or aaaaa and keeps going onward until it cracks it. If you have something that is both diverse and lengthy, these programs could take months to crack it, if not longer, which makes it not worth a hacker's time.
Of course that's only one way its done, but nonetheless, a long and diverse password can keep you pretty safe from it.

'Remember this password?' is a thing on both Chrome and firefox. The 'remember me' box works, too, at least for me.
The password is the way it is to prevent far more major headaches on both ends. No support.
