There's something that slightly bothers me about the Fairgrounds.

Every. Game. Is. About. Matching.

Runestones- You're matching hidden tiles.
Shockswitch- Matching tiles by stitching them
Tidal Trouble- Matching threes
Jigsaw- Matching Puzzle Pieces
Artifacture- Matching threes AGAIN
And now we have Glimmer and Gloom, which, you guessed it, involves matching up tiles so they all look the same. In a pattern that I apparently cannot comprehend, but that's just me.

The only game we have that isn't about matching something up is Higher or Lower, which is just a guessing game.

If you're like me and make most of your treasure via fairgrounds, this gets old fast.

I personally think it would be a lot more fun if we had some games that don't involve matching up tiles and bubbles and puzzle pieces and maybe some games that actually involve DRAGONS or this amazing lore we have here on FR.

FR is a game about dragons, yet we don't get to USE those dragons anywhere but the Coliseum. We spend all this time breeding, buying and dressing our dragons but we only ever see them in the lairs and coli.

Just a few ideas off the top of my head~

Maybe a side scroller game where you chose one of your dragons and have to FLY (That's right, dragons can FLY!) around/over/avoiding obstacles or enemies. The higher your score at the end, the more treasure you make.

A game where your cursor is a piece of food dangling over a bunch of hatchlings. Don't let them get it and feed the right food to the right baby! This one is slightly about matching (Putting the right food in the right mouth) but it's at least more interesting than matching bubbles and tiles, plus it brings the food mechanic where certain dragons only eat certain foods into the game!

Or maybe even a game involving hide and seek with dragons trying to find their familiars! You have to find a certain number of hidden critters before time runs out and the more you find- the more treasure you get!

These are all literally off the top of my head and it all sounds a lot more fun than mindlessly matching things up for hours.

What do you guys think? I can't be the only one that feels like this!
I mean no disrespect to our coders, who work really hard to bring us any games at all, but GEEZ.

No more matching!

There was a time he thought a single
sword could save the kingdom. A
time, all regrets were yet far away...
@PandaOverlord it would definitely give us some variety AND more to do with our hordes of dragons! I'm kind of sad I can't use my dragons for more stuff around the site!

I was bemused when I started reading. . . and surprised that I'd never noticed that trend in all the games, lol.

I _really_ like the idea of games that potentially involve dragons, even if they maybe aren't our personal dragons.
The sidescroller is fantastic in my opinion and definitely my favorite, but all of them. . . yes, yes please. It could be 'navigate the storm' or 'escape the beastclans' or something simpler like 'race around Thornieth' even potentially have different random things to avoid if they had a couple different sidescroll scenarios.

Support! I really like the sidescroller game, but i wonder how that would work on mobile. Tbh the one I think would work best for both computer and mobole is the hide and seek game. I can see it being like whack a mole basically.

#UnnamedIsValid
Unnamed dragons need love too! There is no shame in having unnamed permas, having dragons with unnamed parents and/or offspring, or exalting unnamed dragons! Leaving dragons unnamed is a perfectly valid playstyle!

she/her or they/them
I don't think a sidescroller game where you could play your own dragon would be feasible, but I don't see why we couldn't play the couriers (especially since they already have assets that could be used) or a generic Guardian/Mirror/etc?

A Snake clone where you play as a Spiral would be nice, too; collectables would be kites & balloons, and you'd need to avoid harpies & talonok.

@Xaphrinel my thoughts exactly! Even if they aren't "OUR" dragons, I still think we need more to do WITH dragons, and maybe familiars too!

@Medenadragon I didn't think about mobile. Even if the sidescroller game idea only worked on desktop though I think it would be worth it! Maybe a sidescroller game could have a mobile friendly counterpart of some sort.

@Seadramon I think it would work with personal dragons if they did it in the same sort of way as the Coliseum, but I'm no coder or game maker and have no clue if that would be a nightmare to do or not. Even so, if it wasn't personal dragons I love the idea of using the couriers! Maybe an objective could be to get a package to another dragon safely! I love the idea of a snake clone too omg.

I'm really hoping this thread garners enough support that the mods take notice. I'm almost positive I can't be the only one bored with matching games.

If I understand correctly, support won't matter in the case of mod's taking notice. They read and venture through the suggestions forum regardless. Best thing we can do is keep hammering at ideas so they have more to work with and potentially less 'how?' in their heads.

I'm not sure how a sidescroller wouldn't work on mobile? Turn your screen sideways, use your finger to direct dragon? Doesn't seem complicated to me, though it would have to allow for cursor control instead of keyboard (I'd always hope for both options, as I tend to prefer keyboard.

Another game idea:
Premise: One of your dragons got separated from the others while out gathering and got lost!
Game: navigate the maze and avoid the beastclans to get home safely!

This wouldn't require any new artwork and thus could use our own dragons (perhaps randomly selected).

I support, as long as it would still work for mobile, I thinks it's a really good idea to get more different games.

Ah @Xaphrinel I thought based on how people bump threads with "Support" maybe the mods only took notice when a thread stays towards the top of the forum. I'm still a bit new. XD
