i’m not really able to put this together 100% comprehensively but bare with me

so we got those captchas in the coli right? preventing botters or whatever. but fr has some visually impaired users (i’m not one ftr) and those “find the red fae on the red background” isn’t very easy.

maybe we could have an audio captcha, like how the letter ones read out loud to you? and it can still be fr related. have the little tts bot read out “scaleback” or smth

it could be toggled from the options too, so we dont have to have like 2 captchas covering the screen.

what do yall think?

I wouldn't use it, but I'm all for options. Support.

Yeah, sure, anything to make the site more accessible.
Yeah, sure, anything to make the site more accessible.
Support. It's hard enough for me, I imagine it must be a nightmare for visually impaired users

As long as it doesn't replace the captchas now and is only an option, support.

I hate those 'type these numbers and letters' in type captchas, and do not want to have to do them when playing the coliseum. HOwever, as an option that people can toggle between, sure.

I'd like this as an option! I've lost a lot of vision in one eye the last year and have persistent vertigo, so I have to put my face almost to the screen to see what it is I'm supposed to be clicking. Half the time I just click randomly and hope haha

Audio captchas would help, but we need something else to replace the current atrocious system. I'd hate to have really good audio captchas but unable to use them because I'm playing FR on mute during my break and then be forced to use the current crappy ones.

If writers are supposed to "show not tell," why are we called "storytellers" and not "storyshow-ers"?
I apologize for necroing a thread, but, I beg of you, FR team, please do something about this.

"I have to put my face almost to the screen to see what it is I'm supposed to be clicking. Half the time I just click randomly and hope"

And I almost entirely just click whatever blob I hope is a dragon and pray, or just click and hope the next captcha is quickly obvious, because if I take time to actually try to figure most of these out, I can end up with dizziness, nausea, or a full-fledged migraine with "painbows" (auras) - and I STILL cannot tell which blob is a dragon sometimes even after staring at them all!!

I am not supposed to be having this kind of vision difficulty at such close range, but, the Coliseum captchas I fail on the first try so often that when I get it right in one I am very surprised. Those times when it takes three start making me nervous about how many more it will be; after I finally failed so many I was slapped with a lockout timer - something that will happen again - I realized just how big of a problem this is.

I have been trying to do Coliseum battles at times when there is someone who can do the captchas for me, but, aside from this not always being an option, it is annoying for all concerned, and embarrassing and makes me feel like a bother to have to keep asking so often.

Please, these Coliseum captchas are frustrating anyway, even the friend who invited me has mentioned it. But, with accessibility issues they can be literally, physically painful and sickening as well. This would be easier if it was a feature I could just happily ignore, but I like the Coliseum, even while I faceplant my way through adjusting to keyboard controls for it!

I understand and accept why the captchas exist, people who use automation software against site/game rules spoil ease-of-access for everybody. And, I would not want this version gone entirely and to stick people with another kind that they have trouble with. But, accessibility options please?

(I realize I am screaming into the void here, as the percentage of people who need this and who also remain on the site after struggling with these captchas might not be large enough to seem worth the extra work. But, to least plead my case and hope is better than not trying at all.)

(Edit - I asked the person who had been helping with captchas what they thought of the difficulty of the Coliseum captchas, and wanted to add their response.... kind of. That person has tested-perfect vision and still described these in terms too unflattering for me to politely repeat here.)

i have great vision and get the dragon pretty much every time, but we should still have accessibility options for those who don't. support.
also i agree with the person helping with captchas.

Major support, though captcha has to be reworked entirely as I play this in public occasionally and wouldn't be able to use audio captcha without some form of anxiety spike. There absolutely should be alternates to complete these if people have such trouble with them. Audio captcha is a brilliant way to not only help users who just cant find the dragon, but anyone with any level of visual impairment.

My vision close range is fantastic (long range im blind without glasses) and 90% of the time the dragon either blends in with the background or the silhouette of a familiar looks more like a dragon than the dragons do. Especially with ancients added to captcha. They might not wear clothing but I usually pick these based on silhouette (what 100% isn't a dragon and guess from what might be), and everything is way too busy, nothing stands out at all. Line breaking terts, various genes and clothing break the silhouette and can make the dragon unrecognizable in the captcha. There is literally no way to reliably differentiate what is or isnt a dragon when there are so many variables, and colors are altered on familiars and items to further push them from being recognizable or standing out.
If I remember ill keep an eye out and screenshot the worst one I see, and add it to this.

I use a blue light filter and keep my brightness down as I am a mobile player, which makes it worse, but sometimes turning the brightness up does not help. I usually don't miss more than twice at a time and have never been locked out (didnt know you could be) but I cant imagine this is good for anybodys eyes, especially if theyre staring and trying to manually differentiate some of them. I know at least once it caused me a headache and I had to put the game down. I cant imagine how much worse it must be for people like the user above with worse vision issues.
