It would actually require the entire breeding system to be recoded, because the way it's listed is paternal first, then maternal. If you're breeding two males, who will be paternal? Who will be maternal?
It would have to be completely changed.
As for gender change...again, it would break lineage with already-bred dragons. And, it's not something that's really needed - we have more than enough dragons to make pairings.

I personally do not want to see a sex change scroll that would allow you to change the sex and then be able to breed according to the newly assigned sex (IE You have two males, you change one of them to a female and then you would be able to breed the male to the female) or same sex breeding. I'd rather not see this for a couple of reasons:
First of all, it could probably involve having to recode a fair amount of the breeding/display system which I think could be better spent adding new features rather than recoding a system that works perfectly fine the way it is. The reason I say it could involve a fair amount of recoding is depending on how the lineage is stored in the database the system could have a fit over trying to figure out how to display the parents when one of them has been sex changed so they are now the same sex since there is no longer a male and a female parent to display first and second.
The second reason I don't like this is because it would remove some of the challenge involved in breeding. For same sex breeding it would double the potential partners available and for sex change scrolls its one less factor you'd have to breed for. Sex is the only thing you can't change or control and something should remain static. You can change color by using a scatter scroll and you can ensure the hatchlings are of a particular element by breeding it in the appropriate nest, you can randomize the eye-type with the eye vials or change them with the specific vials, etc
I'd personally prefer to see a
cosmetic change (changes the image to the opposite sex, so your male dragon displays a female dragon image, but he is still a male dragon so he still can only breed with females so the breeding pool for him doesn't change). Alternatively if there wouldn't be a coding issue like mentioned above (or there were additional restrictions like must never have been bred to avoid the entire potential coding issue) and it actually changes the sex then that individual becomes unbreedable (to maintain the challenge).

for the first, I really want better privacy options so that players can opt out of being contacted if they don't want (it is easy to say 'put please do not contact me' or 'this dragon is not for sale' on your profiles/bio, but for some players it is apparently not so easy to read that), but I wouldn't object to having better search options.

(and I have already seen at least one person calling for that to be removed)
2. I think that same sex breeding or sex change scrolls would require recoding the breeding section of the site, and I personally would rather that time be spent on coding brand new areas (adventure mode please!) than touching an area that may not need it (I do not know if they have already revamped the breeding area or not)
3. This is a personal pet peeve, but just because magic exists doesn't mean it can or should be used to explain everything. Yes, it is likely, due to size differences, that dragons breed by magic, but that doesn't mean it still doesn't require feminine and masculine magics in order for it to work.

Assuming there was a breed change scroll, I dont think this would work. To have a dragon to be the father of a dragon and the mother of another... no.
And also its luck of the draw, hoping that the dragon you really need is the gender you need. This would just make the game easier, and honeslty less fun.
