I searched and found posts on this before, but the most recent post was from 2017. I wasn't even on the website then.

My issue is accidental friend requests. I'm on mobile, so usually this happens when I'm scrolling through the forums. I'll either accidentally click the friend request button while scrolling down, or while clicking to the previous page. I also saw people accidentally clicking it when they meant to send a PM. But, as a result from these accidents, I have to (or at least feel better if I) send a PM to the user saying that I accidentally sent a friend request and they can ignore it. I mean, I don't have to, but some people don't like random friend requests, and I'd rather explain my mistake than have them have to inquire about it themselves or straight up block me or something.

I see the solution as either:

• Have a way to cancel a pending friend request
• Have a "Are you sure you want to send a friend request to {USER}?"-type pop-up
• ...or both

I can see issues with the first maybe, like not wanting to cancel if someone's seen the request already...? But I don't think that's too big a deal. And maybe people wouldn't like getting an accidental pop-up, but the same would happen if you accidentally clicked the CR button, and I think this is better than an accidental friend request.

I just see it as a quality of life type of update.

I hate doing this and feeling my stomach drop at the popup. I always feel bad about it, too, even if their profile specifically says “random requests welcome.” D: Support!
