TOPIC | Breed List Presentation in Scryshop
While alphabetical listing is of course very useful, I would like to propose separating out the ancient breeds in the list- maybe to something like this, as a mockup: My concern here is simply due to an inconvenience thing- when I go through and scry a dragon as different breeds, I automatically go through the list, go down one, click, predict, and it's a nuisance when I accidentally click gaoler and it wipes the genes I had set up and I have to remember what I was trying to look at. Sure, in time I will learn to not click gaoler unless I want it (just as I've been trained not to scry imperials for breed changes!) but it would be a convenience boost to set it up differently I think, especially for newer players who don't yet know better, and especially as more ancient breeds are added. While I admittedly don't know much about coding, I don't imagine this would be much of an issue to implement- probably just a small coding change for some quality of life improvement.

Support!

It reminds me of how the ancient breed genes are already set up in the AH. Also, I imagine that the minor nuisance would get more and more frustrating, the more ancient breeds that are added... so any solution that can prevent that future additional nuisance is something I'd like to see.

That's a very nice (and I hope easy to do) tiny QoL addition because I have to admit that I have already misclicked to gaoler and wiped the genes on my scry. I love it.

You do know more modern breeds will be added that are going to mess up your order and clicking anyway, right?

It's a breed, so it should be in the same list. This suggestion doesn't make sense to me.

@vihuff

Hm?

The modern breeds will be added to the list the OP made under the 'modern' section. Since Ancients clear genes when previewing, keeping all the ancients at the bottom of the list makes sense. A new modern breed won't clear genes.

Support! This could also be how the genes are handled as well - even though they may be ancient-breed-specific, classifying genes as ancient vs. modern would also be much simpler to differentiate between parallel genes.

@/vihuff The addition of new modern breeds and genes was never the problem. There is an expectation that the list will grow and change as new things are added, however the fact that now, choosing a certain breed will wipe your gene choices, and that is frustrating. It's not that Gaolers are disrupting the list, it is that they're disrupting the function of the scrying workshop.
