Building off of @/Soupy's idea of searching the skins on the AH by ID#:
Having the Auction House searchable by an item's identification number (ID#) would let us display in the results only the item we want instead of the overlapping searches. The overlapping searches can make it hard to shop for one specific item as it gets swamped by other items' listings. Mostly, this is a problem for items with short, common names.
Examples:
This wouldn't require touching the UI if the feature was left hidden in plain sight for power users to ask about. Allowing searches through the current search box with numbers to generate results for that item ID# would keep it the same.
Edit: Since this was bumped, removed some redundant phrasing
Edit2: This is a problem with the Game Database and its Auction House search links, too. The links are only the word, so they have the exact same problem as user AH searches. Ideally, if implemented, all Game Database AH searches would use the ID#.

Examples:
- A search of the materials section for "Clay", even after filtering to only "Minerals and Organics" also will display the items: possibly clay, grey clay, lump of clay.
Letting someone search for item ID# 177 would show only the item named clay in the Auction House results. - Searching for the familiar named "Roc" will give results including the rockback charger and crowned roc.
- Searching for "Pleco" will also show broadback plecos.
