Absolute spitballing here. Frankly I haven't put too much thought into the mechanics.

But there's a mechanic in Pokémon where people put their Pokémon up for trade and it randomly selects a partner for them.

We could do something similar with dragons. Perhaps another section of the Trading Post? You put a dragon up and you get a dragon from someone else. I'm a gambler so it sounds like a good time for those who feel the same.

Support! :D I like this idea. I was wanting to make some sort of thread like this, but tbh that’d be a lot of work, and this would be a very fun type of game! Maybe in the trading post?

This is my suggestion for the suggestion how it’d work:

-select a derg-remove all items on it, simular to the AH curtisy
-you enter a dragon you own (by ID or other)
-once you enter and confirm-there’s no take~backs
-the dragon would go into some sort of hidden admin account
-this admin account has a auto-response so when you enter something
-the auto response does this:
when you enter a dragon into the portal/pool, firstly, it will go into the same check as listing it in the auction house-you must remove it from you’re team, items, familiars, skins/accents, etc. then, it will go into #xxxxxxxx account. This account is run by admin, and is hidden from the public. It’s dragons never need to be fed, similar to the deities. They remain at the level they are sent, and will be received by someone else. Items/familiars must be de-attached before the sending. If the receiving end has no space, the dragon will go into their ‘custody’ slot, where it cannot be accessed, used, or seem beyond them until they clear out a spot. As soon as they do, the dragon in ‘custody’ will be filling that slot-no exceptions. This process will countiue in this circle, sending and receiving, infinitely.

There are a lot of "give a ___, get a ___" threads in dragon trading, that you put a dragon in and you'll get one from someone else (but like in a chain formation rather than a trade). However, it would be cool to see an official wonder trade thing.

To be honest, I think there is one huge reason why this wouldn't really work: exalting.

I can see the huge number of players who put their dragons into this wonder trade hoping for 'forever homes' and then get upset when that dragon is exalted by the player that recieved it.

It would be an interesting mechanic, but since it can already be done through the forums, I don't really see the need to add a mechanic that would have the potential to cause a ton of drama (we already see this with players who exalt dragons they buy off the AH, imagine the issue if a player doesn't like the dragon they got and can't put it back int othe wonder trade immediately, or just doesn't feel like it)

I don't mind this feature, as long as, like every "give/get" thread, there's a message emphasizing "once traded the dragon is out of your control; only put in dragons you're comfortable being exalted".

Actually, we might need to have that line put in bold at the top of the auction house.

I really feel the fact some people get fussy about 'their' dragons being exalted should not be an obstacle for new features, unless the suggested feature itself is flawed. I like give/get games and I sometimes play them myself, so I can't see any fundamental flaws with this wonder trade either, apart from potential harassment, which occurs to everyone and everything everywhere anyway.

I would love to see this. I think it would be a ton of fun.

Wonder Trade would not lead to people being upset about their dragon being exalted. It’s basically an exalt fodder exchange; but of course you can keep a dragon if you like it. Support. In Pokémon Wonder Trade, people usually toss in Zubat (garbage) and receive Pidgey (garbage). But occasionally, people will be generous and give interesting Pokémon and other people will be inspired to do the same. Dragon Wonder Trade will be like this. There won’t be drama because trades will be 100% randomly assigned, unlike forums. @Jemadar Totally disagree that it would cause drama. And I’ve noticed you use that as a reason not to support quite often. I think it’s a non-issue in 99% of cases. And who said you couldn’t put it back into Wonder Trade immediately? Btw sorry I haven’t gotten back to you in the eye forum. @hat17 Your whole post! :D

that is your opinion and of course you are entitled to it. However, it isn't my opinion.

I don't play pokemon so I can't compare the two, but I don't really want to see mechanics added that don't add much to gameplay (or add enough to it to compensate for the negatives) that will have several negatives to them, and one of those is the increase in potential for harassment. It happens and while you can't stop it entirely, nor does it mean that a good idea shouldn't be implemented because of it, to me the question is, is the idea good enough to outweigh the cons.

I have seen the other sides of these types of exchanges, where people complain about how they give 'good stuff' and only get garbage back or how they put good stuff in only for it to be immediately resold and all sorts of things like that, so I KNOW it would happen, the questions are how often would it happen and would the mechanic truly add enough to gameplay to outweigh it if it did happen.

To me, since this can be done already through the forums, I don't really feel that an official mechanic would be needed as I don't feel it would really outweigh the potential problems of players, especially newer ones, putting 'special' dragons into it and then realizing that most dragons that go into it are considered garbage and thus pretty much tossed back in or exalted immediately.

Personally I think that because the trades are randomly assigned there would be an increase in drama, because then players can't control who gets the dragons. Through the forums, players can at least check out another player to see if they are an exalting lair or if they are likely to sell the dragons they get.

I love that. The dragon pool makes it a lot easier to find a partner, but I don't think it could be an entire account, hidden or otherwise. They have a cap at how many dragons they can hold. Not to mention I also think people should only be allowed to put one dragon in so it doesn't become a dumping ground. And you should get the trade somewhat close to right away. What do you think?

@Jemadar

I think drama is actually a valid concern, and it's hard to make it anonymous due to dragon search. Which in itself is a feature that opens up for harrassment. But I also think you underestimate the FR community. Every new feature will refresh toxicity, but it always seems to fizzle out given time. This community is very friendly overall. A few bad apples shouldn't ruin it for everyone.

If this is a wonder trade for items, then I'd definitely put potential harassment as a major issue, because most items on FR has an universal agreed value attached and it's hard to ask someone not to feel bad about putting in a good item and get a bad one.

But for dragons it's so subjective. I'm one who hunts beauty in fodders all the time, and a lot of the time what I love is someone else's garbage, so to speak. And from posts popping up and down every week asking why their 'gorgeous dragons' don't sell or why were they bought and exalted immediately, half of the time I was like, but they are not pretty?? Time and time again I've proved to myself that beauty is so subjective you really can't put a price tag on it at all.

In other words, sure, a wonder trade with dragons can lead to drama and people complaining about 'gave out good dragons only to get bad ones back', but a dragon is only 'good' to a player if it's either a keeper for them, or they got sold with a higher price. All others are fodders anyway, it's just which route these dragons go through before they end up on a pillar.
