Suggestions

I know this seems stupid but I think it would be nice to have a way where you could tell if a user was active or not.

No thank you. I like my privacy and don't need people feeling entitled to my time just because a little green button tells them I might be around.

[/quote] Unfortunately, I have seen too many people on this particular site feel entitled to someone responding to their PMs, pings or whatever just because that person happens to be online, so I do not think the site would benefit from something like this.

No worries, this is a somewhat popular suggestion and many other sites have it. I just haven't seen so many people on other sites with this get upset if someone doesn't immediately answer their PMs etc.. so I don't know whether I just miss those people or if FR has a higher than usual percentage of that type of person, but whatever it is, I would just prefer to not have it.

No thank you, it isn't anyone else's business if I'm online or not. if it came with a toggle I'd always have it set to the offline or invisible option permanently.

I don’t think I would want an online/offline thing but more like....
‘This user has been active in the last week/month/year ‘ etc so people’s privacy isn’t violated but other users can get a sense of when you’ve been on FR last - especially when trying to see if someone is inactive or not. But I do think the shortest length it should display is ‘in the last week’ because then hopefully it’ll lead to less harassment and demanding of other users than if it was ‘active within last hour’

You wouldn't be able to know when they logged on, just know that it was within the past two weeks.

i think an opt-in (maybe something off by default) activity type thing like what bluesykai said would be nice. when joining the site i found it a little strange there's no online option, but i certainly don't mind it. i think a way to gauge activity beyond seeing hatchlings/feeding dragons would be helpful though.

I don't care for any functions that give people information they don't need to know to have a perfectly acceptable site experience--no activity markers, no "people reading this thread" list, none of that. They'll get replies when I either remember or feel up to doing them, and they'll know I have something to add to a thread when I add it.
