TOPIC | [Database] Show # of limited items?
1 2
Dunno if this is even data the crew have access to, but i think it would be neat if the Item database showed the total number of: a) Each User Skin and Accent and possibly b) Limited/Retired Items (i.e. [gamedb item=718] or [gamedb item=10874]) Would be a VERY cool stat to know! I could see it happening more realistically for skins and accents as knowing the exact number of limited/retired items could affect their market value. But personally I would love to know that info!! Would be neat.
It would, crucially, need to exclude locked accounts. Otherwise the data's useless.
support!

I've seen people ask "how many copies of x skin exist?" on the skin problems thread and get an answer so i know that data exists and the crew can access it

Someday, the whole sky is going to light up, and it's gonna say, "TILT."
And that's gonna be the end of the world.

Artshop * Adopts * Skins
Support! This would benefit people who buy UMAs and want to know what's a 1-print custom :)

Support. This of course has to be something that can auto-update itself. While not needed for retired items since their numbers won't increase, it is especially needed for skin/accent as the total number of copies can change if reprints happen.

I think this is a good idea for skins/accents, but i don't think it's necessary for limited items like the imp scrolls and such ^^

This is one of those suggestions that my initial reaction is 'eeeeeh I don't like it' but tbh, I think it's a good idea. I don't think that there's any chance that staff would implement this with information identifying the owners of the items, and that removes the privacy/harassment risk 'eeeeh'.

It'd a) be really neat to see the results and b) hopefully up-front inform people when their dream dragon/goal/etc is going to cost them an arm, a leg, and 100 souls so they don't get crushed later on.

(and c) tell me if my vista quest is completely hopeless)
(and c) tell me if my vista quest is completely hopeless)
Yeah, this is where I'm sort of ambivalent about the idea. It's trivia if it includes all copies, because an item existing doesn't mean it will ever go up for sale (I've never sold a gilded crown, perfect example). I see it as getting closer to problematic if locked accounts aren't counted; that gives players direct information of account closures happening when the number is observed to drop (barring something unexpected that deletes items). Admittedly, players can check a page and look for the "Account locked" status.

I actually don't think the items on locked accounts need to be excluded? While those items will never get into circulation again, excluding them wouldn't be any more helpful on the 'finding a copy' front, since owning a copy doesn't mean it'll end up in the market, so some items are just as good as locked account ones. But this number would at the very least tell us how many were generated to begin with, and it's especially useful for umas now we have the database - I know when I see a 1/2/5 prints that is perfect for my dragon I can just ignore it, and not have the false hope that I can find one affordable.

I really would love to see this! I've been going through and adding dreamy accents to my faves, but would love to exclude ones with only like 1-5 prints or something to avoid ones that might be personal accents or something like that.
