Does any one else want to see Phantom and Spirit on other dragons? Or Chevron and Arrows? No? Just me? [emoji=banescale sad size=1] If you DO want to see genes on Ancients available for Modern dergs, what genes do you want?! [emoji=gaoler tongue size=1]

I love the look of Squiggle and that would be a neat one to see expanded. Phantom/Spirit and Arrow/Chevron would be great too.

Also, I can't tell if Corviknight is being sarcastic or genuine, but honestly... I'd love to see a Wraith analog for Moderns, I'd be absolutely fine with linebreaking terts for Moderns and just having the personal choice to forgo any apparel/skins that don't work with the gene.

Given we have Firefly that already does this to a lesser extent -bugs flying under apparel is already weird, and a ton of the eye types clip apparel, why not? Apparel compatibility isn't the be-all end-all.

Wraith and Porcupine. We need those on the modern dragons! Best tert genes made since Glimmer.

I'm absolutely not sarcastic. Look at my lair, I'm all about that spooky mask aesthetic

Yes, and between ancients for that matter.

The original hype about single-ancient-exclusive genes was that they could be excessively linebreaking/body-modification terts, and those still make sense as one-offs.

But genes (both prim/sec and tert) that are simple body patterns are translatable and should be. (And maybe even some of the subtler linebreaking ones - Blossom could certainly be drawn not to break the silhouette of modern dragons, just like Gembond.)

Obviously, no one's asking for this to happen tomorrow, any more than ancients getting the full slate of modern genes.

But in both directions, genes being adapted gradually would be really nice. (Especially that first ancient-to-modern gene so we know it's possible.) And I personally feel that it would be a more satisfying use of the artists' finite time than entirely new genes.

It's more than 'X gene would look cool on Y dragon' - what I've always loved about FR's design system is the sheer dizzying potential of combinations.

A while ago, I wanted to make a dragon to represent a rainy day. The perfect gene combination for the theme, in my opinion, was Jupiter/Paint/Stained, and so I bred that dragon into existence, despite no one else on the site, so far as I'm aware, ever deliberately going for said combo.

But with limited gene pools, if someone comes up with a cool concept that requires Chevron/Breakup/Glimmer...or Petals/Butterfly/Blossom...or literally anything that crosses those lines - they're out of luck.

Yes, having the non-linebreaking genes expanded to other breeds would make sense! Maybe they're going to do that once they see which ones are popular?

Personally I'd love Tear on modern dragons, it's a really cool gene with fun color accents.
