TOPIC | Banescale metallic/alloy shading change

Metallic and alloy are shaded DRASTICALLY differently on ancients than on moderns. For example here's a couple of Orca/Orcas: Metals/Metals: I'd been thinking they looked strange and plastic-y and I couldn't pick out why. I'd think they should at least match the modern genes. It looks like they're missing a layer of gradient or something that the modern genes had.

Support, they look like totally different genes. Considering they're gem genes, this mess up is unacceptable.

While I have already bought and applied these genes to one of my banes, I do want to see them fixed so they match the modern versions. The females and hatchlings have it the worst, but the gene art on male banes still doesn't look quite right.

Okay what is actually wrong with that orca banescale.

If they're going to alter a gene to the point where it looks like a completely different gene, makes it a different gene.

I actually like the Banescales much better than the moderns. Why can't we have that instead of Orca not actually looking like the base color. I think it's the first time that I can say Orca isn't straight up the worst option in a gene.

I support for change, but dayum, that's still beautiful - the mistake version absolutely should be made as a gene, though

I'm assuming it's actually bugged on Banes rather than being intentionally changed to look different, but it would at least be great to hear from staff what's up. It's a gem gene, after all.

Support, they really don't look like the same genes. Could release a second set of genes with the old version.

I ... actually think the Banescale versions look better.

I support a change, I just don't think it'll happen.

Chiming in to add that this is definetly an art error, clearly an overlay/shading/gradient layer is 100% missing on banescales Just like the bevy of other art error this needs to be fixed, "cool" or not Honestly, just knowing it's an art error (an obvious one at that) makes it lose any appeal to me Also this
I wouldn't count on it tbh. For those saying that they like the bane version better because it looks closer to the original color:

Based on how the moderns look, it's supposed to make the color darker and look like metal. That's the way they designed the gene. If you like the gene effects the colors isn't the problem here, it's whether the bane version looks like the gene. And the fact is that it currently doesn't.

I mean, look at the belly on the orca bane. It looks like the the way the moderns do. It looks like that's the way the banes are supposed to be, but something went wrong.

Support for a fix. The colors look wrong, they don't look shiny and metallic like they should. I'd prefer if all the genes actually matched.
