TOPIC | Exalt Marker in Offspring List
1 2
This is a rather simple thing, and might be less important for some people than others.

However I would like if there was some way to tell, at a glance, which dragons in the Offspring list for an individual have been exalted. Whether it be with a symbol (A star, or something else simple) or simply italicizing the name of the dragon in the list.

I personally would find this handy because I like to go check on the babies of my dragons that are still around, and it gets very tedious checking each individual name to see if they're exalted or not.

Granted I don't know how hard this would be to code so this might be an unreasonable request.

I'd be interested to hear other ideas for making it easier to tell which dragons are still active though. Even if it's a simple solution, or something a little more complicated, I'm interested to know what likeminded people have come up with.

If they added something like this, it must absolutely be optional. I can understand that this would be useful for some players, but for other players it would ruin their dragons to have symbols or italicized names in their dragon's list. We already have a fair number of anti-exalt players, making it easy to see at a glance who was exalted could make things worse.

If you play on a computer you can already see who is exalted or not (at least on chrome and internet explorer) by hovering your mouse over the offspring name, at the bottom of the screen a url will pop up, if the id in the url is 0 that dragon has been exalted

I think it would be useful as an optional feature, I was recently trying to track down any existing distance descendants of one of my dragons and trying to filter through the exalts was a pain. I'm glad you said this though, because now I have a shortcut for doing that on desktop. Wouldn't mind this being added, but it should definitely be an opt in thing because people might not like how it makes their offspring list look if they had no choice in there being a symbol or italics.

Having it be optional makes sense.

I personally don't think it would be that jarring to just have the names italicized but I know a lot of people are very particular about small things like that. I do vaguely remember someone mentioning the hovering thing, but that's a little less 'At A Glance' than I had intended, and as you said doesn't help mobile players at all.

No support. This would only add to anti-exalting drama. And I don't want icons, wingdings, colors, italics, or anything else on my offspring lists. I just want a uniform list.

Pings are disabled.

If writers are supposed to "show not tell," why are we called "storytellers" and not "storyshow-ers"?
This HAS to be optional if implemented. I don't care if people exalt dragons I sell and I absolutely do not want anything showing on the dragons I own indicating someone exalting one of their offspring

No support from me unfortunately. There are many users who already harass users who exalt their dragons, despite it being a violation of site policy. The policy actually goes as far to say that even politely requesting people don't exalt dragons is considered harassment.

I know you already get all of that so I hope I don't sound condescending! Only trying to show that despite it already being
 • a very tedious manual process to check if offspring were exalted
 • against site rules to harass users who exalt
 • out of line with canon lore regarding exaltation, which is a high honor for dragons
 • a backbone of the site economy to train and exalt/sell (and they are benefiting from this, even if they don't realize it)
 • a core site mechanic in the form of dominance, and has been since day one
people still behave badly to those who have exalted their dragons.

So, I think making it even easier for people like this ultimately seems to be a can of worms waiting to be opened. Of course, people should report when they see that behavior, but at least as of now that doesn't seem to be stopping a large amount of people.

Just wanted to add that I get where you are coming from! The intent behind this suggestion is definitely a QoL improvement and provide further interactivity with the site. I just can't see a way to implement a feature like this without putting gasoline on the fire.

It sucks that people behaving badly are why we can't have nice things.

I agree with this suggestion. Although, per a lot of others' ideas, I think it should be optional so as not to ruin the aesthetic of a dragon's page.

I would definitely use this frequently because of two reasons:
1. I am very interested in seeing my dragons' offspring and how they are used in the future.
2. I run a free hatchery, and one of my main rules is not to exalt the dergs they adopt (as my hatchery is not a free fodder source). It'd be useful for me to immediately be able to see the dragons that have been exalted instead of having to go through ALL of my dragons' offspring to find the ones that have been exalted.

(EDIT: I just wanted to make it clear that I am in no way an anti-exalt user. I understand that if people wish to, they can do whatever they like with dragons they receive. Usually, I exalt my own dragons that aren't adopted. It's just a matter, with my hatchery, of common courtesy and not using my free adoption center as a way to get easy fodder. I'd much rather people actually use the dragons I give away for something instead of throwing them away.

I am, in no way, interested in the anti-exalt drama that has accumulated over the years and I avoid participating. I do not agree with nor support harassment of users who exalt dergs.)

Honestly, given that the majority of dragons on this website are or will end up exalted just by virtue of numbers and available lair space, it'd probably make more sense to have an indicator if a dragon is NOT exalted (or "Active" I guess).

But any kind of indicator would have to be optional/toggle-able, otherwise no support.

@Noctem https://flightrising.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/115004996703-Dragon-Ownership Even that can be a thin line, and users have to trust you are anti-harassment- in fact, you saying you would use this feature to check if users are sticking to your hatchery rules is actually exactly why I oppose this as a feature haha. I hope I can explain why here. Adoption threads and hatcheries are totally allowed, and using them as free fodder systems is against the rules and reportable. The example used in the policy:
Attempting to exploit [Dragon Ownership] policy for personal gain is also considered harassment. Example: A player uses an 'adoption' thread for free "exalt fodder" or dragons to sell. This goes against the spirit of the thread/trade.
But it is also against the rules to outright tell them that it is against any kind of rule to exalt.
We consider demanding another player not exalt, sell, breed, change any part of the dragon in question to be harassment as it is an attempt to dictate how another person plays the game. Example: Player A gifts Player B a dragon. Player B later decides to exalt or sell it. Player A pings or otherwise confronts Player B, demanding they use their dragon restoration to unexalt the dragon. Example: Player A is gifting free dragons to new players. They include a list of requirements the receiving players must adhere to. It is okay to politely request a dragon go to a lair in the spirit the gifting player intends. It is not okay to demand it or require it. Example: "Please do not exalt," while polite, is a demand. Example: "I would appreciate it if you do not exalt or resell this dragon right away" is a request.
I'm sure you've had no issues and I think a free hatchery is a really nice thing for the site community, definitely not trying to minimod lol. Hope this doesn't come across like I think you are a harasser or anything!!! If someone decides down the line to exalt, as long as they aren't just using you for free fodder, I just don't think they should need to worry about someone getting a visual cue that they did, precisely because some might be keeping an eye out for it.
