I think that there should be a “Search for Exact Name” option in the Auction House as well as in Dragon Search/User Search. This is somewhat inspired by the Health Potion thread that’s up right now but I’ve been thinking this was needed for a while.
In the case of the AH, certain items have very similar names and it makes it a hassle to search for a specific one if it isn’t the cheapest option or otherwise easily identifiable. For example, say you wanted to buy a normal “Health Potion.” If you search this in the AH, the first item to appear will usually be the “Minor Health Potion” since it is the cheapest. Now, you could always just set a minimum price high enough to weed out most of the Minor potions, but prices fluctuate and you could be missing out on a deal (ok, Health Potions are pretty cheap but still). This tends to happen with familiars where one is named “(insert critter name here),” one is named “adjective (insert same critter here),” and you want to find only the basic one. Having a Search For Exact Name function would make the AH a smoother experience and take you instantly to the item you’re looking for even if it partially shares a name with something else.
As for Dragon Search, I’ve run into moments where I was just curious how many dragons had a certain name but lacked the patience and time to search through a bunch of pages to count the ones that actually have that exact name, because the name is part of a larger and more common name. For example, I have a dragon named Gnar. One day I wanted to see how many Gnar brethren he has out there and “Gnar” is also a part of “Ragnarok,” a fairly common name since it comes from Norse mythology. Common as in dozens of pages of Ragnaroks with a “Gnar” (or other names containing it) scattered here or there. This might not be as much of an essential as the AH search, but it would still be a great QOL feature to have available when using Dragon Search.
