TOPIC | Have a 'Non-Exalt' option on dragons.
1 2 3 4 5 6 7 ... 13 14
Yes, possibly a controversial topic but one that I wish to address in response to something I've been running into rather often recently that currently, there is no solution too.

EDIT: Hi guys, I know this is a controversial topic and one that many of you dislike however, I would prefer if members could not be aggressive or slander my name around this topic as all I have did is made a suggestion and I mean no harm or offence by this. There is also two options below - I would like to focus more on the second as it would be able to work more well rounded than the first more extreme option.

When I sell my dragons, I sell them at an affordable price that some have told me are 'fodder prices'. I don't however set these prices and intend for my dragons to be 'fodder', I intend for them to be affordable for the many, many lairs who cannot afford the top of the range dragons just yet who are perhaps only starting their journey on Flight Rising.
Now I understand that this is quite a task and an update and many people might just say in response to combat this to 'set your prices higher', 'put something in the bio of the dragon to ask not to exalt' or maybe even 'just buy it back and resell'.
I have of course tried all of the above options and to no avail. Higher prices isn't really what I aim for, there are already tons of high priced dragons. I have updated dragons bios asking users to not exalt the dragon - no one reads these and all of them have ended up exalted (really, every single one). Lastly, if I were to buy back all the dragons that have went, unintentionally to exalting lairs, it'd initially take a while to buy them all back only to re-list them and have them sold again to an exalting lair (something which has also happened).

What I am suggesting is perhaps an option to set your dragons who you sell as 'Non-Exaltable'. Maybe a button you press that will make the dragon unable to be exalted for members other than the breeder of said dragon (or maybe for users of the same element). This option to make it easier on everyone, could be an option only for the breeder of the dragon to be able to set. So for example, say I bred 3 spiral males, I could set two of them to non-exaltable so any who buy them afterwards would not have the option to exalt, while the one I didn't set to un-exaltable is still able to be exalted by any user.
Now this does of course, like any suggestion come with some pros and cons mainly with exalting lairs worrying that they will no longer have any fodder to buy cheaply, some members may over use this and set all their bred dragons to un-exaltable and this could be quite a taxing extra to input into the game.
Pro wise, I do feel like this would really battle the issue of many dragons being exalted who the original breeder really didn't want to be exalted. I've experienced this so much recently and it is truly disheartening for you to see a dragon who you put work into producing and just have some one buy it and exalt it the next day. It can be pretty frustrating. - A farfetched and extreme option, please draw more focus to below ^^

So I do also have an alternate solution that could combat some cons that some exalting lairs may find with the first suggestion while still slightly combating the original issue.
Have a section in the auction house of 'Exalt-able dragons' and 'Not wanting to be exalted dragons' (with a better name though).
So this way no button needs to be implemented and all dragons will remain able to be exalted, but exalting lairs can specifically look through a section of dragons whose members do not mind their dragons being exalted, and those who wish for their dragons not to be exalted can list their dragons for sale at a reasonable price and have less fear of their babies being exalted.
Of course, it can always be that people will just ignore this also, but if they do it can be just put down to ignorance instead of people genuinely missing notes etc that the OG breeder has put. (As in my experience most exalting lairs are reasonable enough to allow the dragon to be bought back etc and I wouldn't expect these people to down right ignore someone who has put their dragon into a section of the auction house specifically as they wish their dragon not to be exalted.)

This might seem like a silly suggestion to some or one that might ruffle feathers, but it has been an ongoing problem that I have encountered and in reality - there is nothing that I can really do about it. I have also witnessed numerous other members who also don't wish for their babies to be exalted. It would be nice for both parties to enjoy the game without fear of being hassled because they've bought a dragon someone doesn't want to be exalted or vice versa, without fear of having their dragon bought and exalted when that is not what the seller intended.

Yeah..... big no support
Once a dragon leaves your lair it is no longer under your control, and you can’t control what other people do with it. Besides, there’s already a massive dragon overpopulation problem, and not being able to take dragons out of the game would make it infinitely worse.
If you don’t want people to exalt your dragons, don’t sell them
Simple as that

Not your dragon, not your rules. It's stated explicitly in the Rules & Policies that you cannot dictate what other users do once the dragon leaves your possession except if they are using it to harass you. Buying your dragons to exalt for profit is not harassment.

No support. Coming from someone who runs an exalt rescue and has a non-exalting lair, the majority of dragons are designed to be exalted. By breeding dragons and consequently selling them, you're choosing to allow for the possibility of them being exalted, it's just how the game is designed. If a large group of dragons could never be exalted, the vast majority of them would never sell- there's just too many dragons for most fodder dragons to be especially sought after.

And, even if a newbie buys a non-exaltable dragon, what would happen once their tastes change? Since it's their dragon, but they're not the breeder, they'd be stuck with a dragon they have absolutely no way of quickly getting rid of. If it's just a section on the AH that people can choose to ignore, then there's really no difference between the current system we have and this suggestion.

I have only had one dragon I've sold ever get exalted because I don't breed my dragons, and I put in a lot of extra effort in the form of lore, art, and a forum thread, and sacrifice my HibDen space so that the dragons that get bought from my rescue go to more permanent lairs. Once I do breed my dragons, I don't plan to do so often and am going to keep the hatchlings (barring some I might give to friends with lore lairs and such, with the understanding they can return the dragon anytime). So, it's possible to limit exalting, but it requires conscious sacrifices, effort, and accepting that everything you try might still not work.

Once you sell a dragon it is no longer your dragon, you cannot dictate what other players do with their dragons. All dragons should be exaltable—EY dragons and progen dragons used to be unexaltable and now you can now exalt them became lair space is far more valuable than a dragon you no longer want

It really isn’t that hard to sell your dergs at a higher price though

Even if it seems unaffordable, its not when you work harder!

Just don’t sell them for around 5000 since that’s what the price for most fodder is

Like one of the people said, You can encourage people to not exalt your dragons by giving them good art and lore!

Absolutely not.
Dragons reproduce infinitely and need to be taken out of the system. There are hundreds of thousands more dragons than will ever be lair space to fit them all. A feature like this would not only go against the dragon ownership policies, but would also take a terrible toll on the economy and QoL of gameplay.

Users would ultimately end up with dragons that cannot be taken out of the system. This would be very bad.

Imagine having unwanted dragons stuck to your account; You can't sell them because nobody else wants them, and the game won't let you exalt them (remove them from the system) because the person who locked them also doesn't want them. (or has been absent from the game for years)

Nope. No thanks.

No support. Once a dragon leaves your lair, you have no say in what the new owner chooses to do with it and it's not nice to try to enforce your personal playstyle on others. If you don't want your dragon's hatchlings exalted, the only surefire way to prevent that is to keep them all yourself.

Selling dragons would likely become even more difficult if this thing existed because people wouldn't want to risk buying dragons they can't get rid of later.

If you aren't willing to keep a dragon FOREVER, eating up your food and taking up your lair/den space, you have absolutely zero right to try and make someone else keep it for you.
If you love it so much you don't want it ever exalted, take responsibility and keep it yourself. Other players are not your own personal holding facilities.

Once they leave your lair it's not your dragon, and not your business what happens with it.

See I don't necessarily hate this, but there's not much of a chance it'll be implemented. Sorry.
