I think that during elemental holidays, the Flight you choose to gather in should automatically be set to the Flight the current holiday is celebrating. As far as I know, most people gather in the festival Flight all throughout the week. It would be a small change, but a welcome one.

If you mean that you have to gather in that flight's territory no matter what, no support. Not everyone cares about the elemental holidays and this would hamper some player's ability to obtain items they are searching for.
If you mean have the festival flight's area is at the top of the list, then I am neutral on it, but wouldn't be opposed to it. It could be a huge issue for players whose muscle memory tells them where each flight's name appears on the list, but other than that, don't really see downsides.

I don't think the default should be changed. Let's say there's a new item at Swipp and the items can be gathered in Light. Despite the festival, maybe I want to gather in Light, so I click through, assuming that Light is my default as usual--except it's not, so now I've wasted my turns in a region I didn't want to gather.
I would rather see a banner at the top of the gathering page, reminding players that currency and chests can be obtained through gathering in the respective region, along with an indicator of what region you are currently in when it shows you what you've collected.

I think this is a good idea. Instead of the default being your flight, for the week of the festival it can be changed to the flight celebrating. Of course people who want to gather somewhere else can still do so with the dropdown menu.

I hate to be the 'support if toggle' person but making this a toggle feels super in line with the feeding mechanism toggle. It's very frustrating to get wrong (particularly since currently there's no easy way to tell if you've got it wrong) and it's something I suspect a pretty solid proportion of the site would use. However, removing the existing functionality would be annoying to some.

If toggle-able, yes. If not, I'd rather not have this change. Over the past 7 years I've already got very used to the current order of flights on my dropdown list, change the order will just mess up with my head. I'd rather go with having the festival banner shows up on the gathering page to remind everyone it's now festival time.
