By people, modes:
- All pings - Enable to receive pings from everyone
- Friends only - Only allow people on your friends list to ping you
- Disable pinging - Completely disable pinging, will be overridden by allow list
- Additional listing, by people specific:

- Only from... [list_button] (Allow list mode) - Only allow a subset of the above related people defined in the list to ping you. If 'Disable pinging' is set, only allow people specified in this list to ping you.
- Everyone except... [list_button] (Exclusion list mode) - Allow the above related people except those defined in the list to ping you.
By subforum, one entry for each subforum; Entries have to be specified manually if separate pinging rules should be set up.
- Use 'by people' settings (default if not defined)
- Specify separate settings for this subforum [settings_button]

In pinging me I assume consent to be pinged back. This is because I disabled signature display (too many intrusive banners)

I think even a basic option of choosing the friends only, disable, and all would be nice to have. Personally, I don't really plan on turning any off but it certainly would be extremely useful to others. Also, maybe an option to disable certain notification pings such as Baldwin for those who don't want those?

I think the first three are great. The lists, though... If they're hilariously easy to make, then sure. A potentially nice bonus. But if not, I don't think it would be useful.

Interesting idea. I wouldn't want a big hassle to add or remove people from the "allowed to ping list", otherwise I wouldn't use it.
An interesting hybrid option would be filtering pings, but having a spot where you could see pings from people or groups you disabled. Kind of likes how apps on your phone each have a setting?
