TOPIC | Friendrequest Improvement

Issue: When someone friend requests you and you don't know whom they are or how they know you, it can be daunting to accept or decline simply due to not wanting to decline hurt someone or worse accept and the person be toxic for you.

My Suggestion: When a person sends a request they can click on an corresponding category to give the person an idea whom they are.
For example:
  1. Friend of a friend (accompanied by an indication of the user they know off your friends list)
  2. From another site
  3. seen you around the site & find you interesting
  4. Newbie trying to make friends (or Just trying to make friends)

Or at least something to that effect.

Before anyone brings up PMing, I already do pm them; however I am also aware that there are plenty of people whom are socially awkward or otherwise the type to freeze up when they see the PM. Which brings to the fact of not wanting to decline encase I hurt someone that I know from elsewhere.

I do cauldron requests, check my profile for information.
Support, also adding that step means one needs to confirm before sending out requests, which would be a god send for those with fat fingers and kept tapping the wrong button on her tiny screen (me)...

I find this... a cop-out, I guess. What kind of "friends" are you going to be if you don't even know or recognize the username and need a generic explanation - not even a unique one! - on who the heck that person is? I'd rather people learned that saying no to random strangers is OK and not something that must come with a sheet-long explanation why. No support.

I'd like this if you could make and name your own categories.
Either this or being able to sort friends list :D

Pings are disabled.

If writers are supposed to "show not tell," why are we called "storytellers" and not "storyshow-ers"?
More fair points, no matter which end you are on being put on the spot is arguably awkward and or tedious to deal with.

I'd like, if instead of a list of reasons, tapping the friend request box brings up a small "send a message" text box, where you get 160 characters (or whatever crossroads give you) to write an optional message in, and then you actually have to hit the confirm or cancel button to send the friend request.

I also have very clumsy fingers.

It would be very useful for preventing misclicks and anxiety over accidentally misclicking! Furthermore, I'd like to add onto all of this and state it'd be great to actually have the option to flat out just turn off friend requests for those of us who don't want random friend requests and don't want to have to deal with rejecting them and potentially upsetting other people!
