So, I've had problems with the size of the pop-up window you get when you go to apply a specialty item to your dragons since I joined. My main issue with it is that the dragons look very small, and if you struggle with vision issues like I do, it can be downright difficult to tell them apart, especially if they're unnamed and the same breed. I've tried increasing the size of my browser tab, but that distorts the display, so it doesn't really help much.
I'm colorblind and have other vision issues, so differentiating between my dragons when I'm applying specialty items is really difficult. I can't count the number of times I've accidentally used a renaming scroll on the wrong dragon. Just recently, I accidentally applied a Dark Sclera vial to a multi-gaze G1 by accident because the dragon I meant to apply it to looked very similar (at least on the small images), they were both undressed, and they both were unnamed at the time. I'm not asking for my mistake to be fixed, because I know the fault there is mine and mine alone, but I think some steps can be taken to help prevent me and other people like me with similar vision issues from making similar mistakes.
I think there are a few possible solutions that might help people like me out when applying specialty items to our dragons.
1. An ability to search or filter dragons when you go to apply a specialty item.
I think this would make applying specialty items easier for everyone, especially those of us with lots of dragons. I have a big lair, and I think it exacerbates my vision problems when I have to click through tens of pages of dragons. Right now, I tend to skim the pages looking for the right dragon, and because I have vision issues, that leads to me picking the wrong one pretty often. If we were able to filter dragons by basic criteria (not as robust as the AH search, of course, but maybe along the lines of the search we can use in our lairs?) it would make it a lot easier to identify the correct dragon.
2. Ability to apply specialty items directly from a dragon's page.
This would be beyond perfect. Not only would we not have to click through pages of dragons in the confirmation popup, we would be able to be absolutely sure we were applying the item to the correct dragon by applying it directly from their page. I think this is probably the best solution.
3. Increase size of dragon images in the confirmation window.
Though I don't like this solution as much as the previous ones, I think it would also help. I think one of the reasons I accidentally applied Dark Sclera to my previously-mentioned multi-gaze dragon was because I wasn't able to see his multi-gaze on the little image. I'm not sure how much the size should (or could) be increased, but increasing it to where it's easier to make out distinguishing features would be a big help, especially since a lot of distinguishing features (such as special eye types or different genes) won't be visible when you're previewing them with a different gene/eye vial.
4. Add a specialty marker to dragons with special eye types.
I'm thinking something along the lines of the exclamation marker that we see when you try to apply an Ancient breed change to a dragon wearing apparel. Nothing that would prevent you from previewing the dragon with different eyes, but just a little marker to make it obvious the dragon already has a special eye type, like the icon you see when you hatch a dragon with special eyes.
I don't know if a change to the specialty confirmation window is already in the works for whenever we get a hoard revamp, but I wanted to share some of my ideas for how to make it a little bit more accessible for people like me who have vision problems.
