That's not equal to the amount of art needed for a new breed, that's more. Way more. All the genes, apparel- It'd take years. Look at how long this new modern breed is taking, take into account how often we get new genes and apparel, and you'll see how difficult it'd be

It isn't even just the artwork required for existing breeds. It would mean that every single breed in the future, including ancients, would need the same amount of artwork. For each pose they add to one breed, they would have to add it to all other breeds or there would be huge cries from people whose favorite breeds didn't get a new pose (and I don't blame them, I would be upset if RBS or Snappers or Bogsneaks got a new pose, but imperials, or spirals or mirrors or guardians didn't, as I prefer those breeds, but this would mean that those who prefer the first three now have even more options when it comes to customizing their dragons than I do), and they would have to add a new pose to each future breed as well, or again, there would be issues when the new breed came out and people were upset they didn't get three poses for their new favorite breed to choose from. And that is just for one pose. the more they add, the longer new breeds will take, because they have to add those poses to each new dragon. (for instance. Imagine they add a 'sleeping' pose, which is something that people want for the hibden. Now imagine the new ancient didn't get a 'sleeping' pose. people would be upset, because their new ancient can't sleep. Same thing for any other pose)

For every three poses drawn that is the equivalent of one new breed. I’d much prefer new breeds over alternative poses

There are so many things I would prefer to see the art staff of Flight Rising implement before new poses were added. Gene issues fixed (iri/shim WHEN?!), new modern breeds, apparel for permababies...

I could half support this, if Flight Rising could come up with a good, fair way to distribute new poses to new breeds (for example, the oldest breeds get a new one first), and if there were limitations to keep them from having to redraw all the apparel, at least. Like, that any dragon in a new funky pose wasn't able to wear apparel. Effectively making them an ancient breed that shares all genes with modern breeds. Not a perfectly solution, I know, but I just can't support forcing the staff to work on more clothes and other art than they're already trying to do.

I do have an alternate idea, though, that might satisfy some people: Costumes. These would give them a different pose, and they'd appear to be wearing whatever genes came on the costume. So let's say we can get a "Roundsey" costume. It puts them in a funny pose with a Roundsey hat, and they have skink and spinner in whatever colors the dragon normally is. This would change the pose, keep the colors, and prevent unnecessary redraws. It'd basically be like a skin or an outfit that covers them fully, but it would change the dragon silhouette. Could be a neat idea.

Even if we didn't get additional dress-able poses, I would LOVE for them to implement the different poses for hatchlings that we saw concepts of!

Now that we can swap between the poses, it wouldn't put out people who already have Eternally Youthful dragons.

limiting it to hatchlings wouldn't solve the problem of it being way more work than reward, though. like, even back then the idea was scrapped for being too much. i say this as someone who would have vastly preferred the alternate fae & mirror art to what we actually have.

i would much rather see new breeds and genes prioritized. (and every new gene or breed released adds another small mountain of work to the feature)

Although I would like to see secondary sex characteristic options in the far future. A male guardian who uses the new scroll will change poses but lose his beard, and while that’s great for trans/nb dragons- some people just prefer the other pose. Basically female pose but with the male beard, vice versa for breeds with sex specific characteristics.

I say no support for my own contribution here because I know how much of an absolute pain that may be to correct apparel just to flow better with the other poses unique characteristics.

This would take care of apparel issues, because those secondary sex characteristics would be apparel themselves, so no need to really correct anything. It would be treated as any other apparel: sometimes it might work great, sometimes you might need to 'fiddle' to get it to look good, and some pieces just don't like each other and don't work together.
