TOPIC | Disable specific eye types when breeding
1 2 3 4
I’m sorry if this has been suggested before.

It would be neat to have an option to disable a specific eye type (or types) that you don’t care for. Common eyes could not be disabled and any disabled eye types rolled would fail to common eyes. The chances of rolling an eye type wouldn’t change. This could be implemented as a nesting grounds wide setting or as a setting for each individual nest. The eye settings couldn’t be changed if the nests are in use.

I support this, there are certain eye types (plague and shadow primal come to mind) that really squick people out because of body horror, so it would be nice if those users could disable dragons in their lair from hatching with them.

Edit: Although you can use a vial to give your dragon common eyes, that doesn't change the fact that you'll see the dragon with the squicky eye type on the nest hatching page.

Seeing as how Vials of Tempered Sight are already extremely cheap even on the Auction House, and this feature would pretty much gave the exact same effect (reverting eyes to common), I really see no need for it.

This was something I think was brought up right after the eyes came out, but then it was sort of dropped...

I support. I know when the eyes came out, people were saying they were now uncomfortable being in flights like shadow, because of shadow primal, yet they love the rest of the shadow aesthetic.

Multigaze is another that tends to squick people (I am not fond of that or plague primal either), and people were saying they now disliked breeding because of the potential for getting multigaze.

Yes, we do have a common eye vial, but honestly? I hate the idea that people should have to *pay* to avoid something, especially if it weren't something that had been in place since the beginning of the site. It is why I always preferred opt in things to opt out. I feel I shouldn't have to do something or pay something to *avoid* doing something I don't want to. Let others opt in in order to do it.

In the future, there may be more natural eye types that players will want to avoid, and since this suggestion keeps the odds the same, it doesn't matter if someone disables all but primal, they still have the same chances of getting primal eyes as they did before they disabled everything. Except now, they are going to be seeing a lot of common eyes.

(I was also typing this before the post above mine, but I knew someone would bring them up..)

I’d support this. It seems like a nice way for people to avoid things that make them uncomfortable.

I support, but what about an option to just not SEE the eye type?

People that get icked out by primal eyes shouldn't have to miss out on the profits involved when you hatch a matchy primal. So the dragon hatched would still be primal, but it wouldn't show up for the hatcher?

That might be a coding nightmare. But just a thought!

No support. Vial of tempered sight exists as an inexpensive option to revert a dragon to common. Plan your breeding projects within the means of the site. I'd rather see more eye vials available, like one that randomises the "natural" eye types.

People who are squicked out by plague and shadow primal eye types have to accept the possibility of hatching one as part of the deal of being on this site. Also, if you're squicked by plague primal, why are you in plague!? it's what you signed up for!

I would support disabling all special eye types but not specific ones.
Also, if you're squicked by plague primal, why are you in plague? it's what you signed up for
OP isn't in plague and this suggestion doesn't seem to be about plague eye types :D A good amount of players have been playing FR since before new eye types were introduced. I am not sure if it's right to insinuate they shouldn't be in their flight. Regardless of that new players... probably don't know everything about their flight before they sign up? It would be a little silly to assume someone knows what primal eye types are and what they look like when they pick a flight :P

support, though maybe it should be an item that you can get from the marketplace? at least for disabling common/rare/uncommon eyes, as (depending on how it would work) it could raise the chances of goat/multigaze/primals.

edit: nvm lol misread the first post :P
OP isn't in plague and this suggestion doesn't seem to be about plague eye types :D
Plague primal has been mentioned by others in the thread (the first reply!) and always seems to come up when people talk about removing or disabling eye types.

The aesthetic of blobs of pus in flesh has been with Plague since the start.
Users have many ways to preview what primal eye types look like (AH, Scrying Workshop, guides on and off site).
Users have a free flight change if they decide that plague primal is too much for them.
On top of that, Primal is the rarest eye type to hatch, and should only be on screen for brief moments if you really don't want to look at it. Just exalt and be done with it.
Seriously, primals do not need to be excluded from anything, people need to accept they come with the site.
