(like faes getting an extra pose to show off their long necks) [/s] like, its not necessary for all dragons. i understand the "cascading effect" of people wanting it for all dragons, but i mean, who am i to say no to that? it would be a pretty big stretch goal in terms of passing the idea thru the metaphorical gates, though and we could buy it, just like the silhouette scrolls (understandably way more expensive. idk up to the developers) i just wanna throw this idea out again cus it could be implemented like the silhouette scroll. YES! i know it would be a pretty long process! cus you'd have to redraw a bunch of stuff. but as a long term wish thing? i'd totally love to see it in the far future. im not in a rush to see it. but...... i would like to see it just throwing it out there i know i might get some heat for this, but i want to re-emphasize that its up to the FR team what is or isnt too much for them to handle. thats like a pinned rule in suggestions to not speak on behalf of the team in regards to coding or art. i just dont want the only responses to this thread to be "oh that's too big of a request." "thats too much work" etc.

Yeah no dawg, I'd rather have new dragons rather than hundred of hours spent on making Tundras slightly more palatable.

Just focusing on old stuff is not a good way to make people interested in the site. Modern breeds releases are already so scarce - our last one was the Bogsneak which was...three years ago, and the fact one ancient was just Angry Tundra really soured me already on protoModerns.

New stuff, please. Not rehashed old stuff.

No support. While I agree it would be nice to see updated art for the older breeds (tundras especially), it’s basically the same amount of work of adding a new breed but without adding nearly as much value to the game. New breed releases are very sparse so I feel it’s best for the devs to focus on those.

I do like proto-modern ancients tho, like, I think tundras are butt ugly but the Gaolers are super cool. I’d love to see a similar take on like, a primordial fey or something. They can have enough of their own flavour while also having a few nods to a modern breed.

I have to say no support.

it isn't just a LOOOT of stuff that would have to be redrawn (all the apparel for all the new poses, along with genes etc..) but also the impact it would have on new breeds.

This would severely slow down new breeds, because each new breed would now have 4 poses to draw (or 5, if male and female each got new poses, instead of just a third pose, which brings up another issue), which means 3 (or 4) poses they would have to fit apparel to on top of genes.

The issue with only having one new pose is that some breeds do have dimorphism, so there would be people who would be upset that say the new RB pose didn't get the male's long snoot, but really looks like an alternate pose for females. If they tried to blend the two, there would be people upset because they don't want blended features, but rather distinct new poses (and yeah, there would be people who would want blended features from the two etc..)

This would mean even more set backs for modern breeds, and quite frankly, I would vastly prefer new breeds to rehashed old ones, even if I happen to LIKE those old breeds (like imperials, I wouldn't want a new imperial pose I would prefer a brand new breed, and I love imperials

After some thought I can understand the wariness of like, adding a new pose to a modern breed, but say tundras just get some updated lineart and it doesnt change much in the way of items.
(while still retaining silhouette status)
idk how skins or accents would work, so its a work in progress in terms of ideas/suggestions.

i really like how pinkerton looks, but i feel really sad that we get stuck with a really outdated look for tundras

again re-emphasizing this suggestion isnt something i'd want to take priority over other ongoing projects

They look similiar, but are very clearly their own breeds and not just a rehashing of one breed. (gimme swiftwings as proto pearlies..)

Honestly, if they could do it in such a way that most apparel and genes wouldn't have to undergo significant re-draws, I 'd really like to see older breeds updated. Every day I look at Pinkerton and think about what we could have. Proto-modern breeds is also an interesting idea. I dunno, I think Tundras especially as they are now feel like wasted potential, y'know?

No support, just give us more ancients

I can support proto-modern breeds, but definitely no for updating existing linearts, or adding new poses to existing breeds.

Everyone in this thread (well, for now) are saying tundras are ugly and how Pinkerton is looking flash and great with the update. I for one do not agree. I've been in love for tundras (both male and female) for 7 years and my love only grew. Same with old breeds like mirrors, guardians and faes. I would be mad if they changed how they look now, especially if it also means many of our existing skin/accent no longer works on the new arts.

As for new poses, I'm less oppose to because they don't affect existing dragons, but they also add the same amount of work as making a new breed. In that sense I'd much rather we have a new breed instead of a new pose for the old.

Edit:
More official arts for NPCs or breeds in general is always welcomed!! Yes give us more of those please! :D

I feel like not a lot is being heard in the original post, or there's implications I didn't put there?
This isn't meant to replace anything existing in the works. We're gonna get ancient breeds regardless (and the idea of proto-breeds? thats just how ancient breeds already are. banescales are the precursors to ridgebacks the way gaolers are to tundras. im not sure why this is brought up...)

theres nothing in my original post that mentions being against getting new breeds, or prioritizing new art over getting new breeds.
a compromise of not having totally new poses is fine, especially with how much apparel exists on the site. like, ok realistically a new pose isn't the most economical suggestion!
but i would like to be just as satisfied with certain breeds as other people are, even if it takes a really long time to happen (because the other projects that take priority. which is fine and not a complaint from me.)
