TOPIC | Awakened Familiar Usefulness

Right now, Awakened tier familiars don't do much. You get 5 more treasure than the previous tier, you only get the chest once, and there's nothing more for you to look forward to with them. You get them there and that's it. It seems underwhelming imo.

Idea: Give them small chances to bring you items! Gifts from your familiars, being things like what they'd normally drop in the coliseum, things you can gather from your clan's element, with some exceptions (example: I'm a shadow lair, so they'd have a chance to bring me things that I could also pick up through gathering in shadow, but not things like unhatched eggs.) with very, very slim chances at bringing you a new chest, or a gem or two.

This would make it so having awakened familiars does more than just take up space and give you a fancy border in the bestiary, without 'breaking' it or making it over powered.

Support. As it is, awakened familiars bring nothing to the table, which feels like a shame considering they just added the ability to "name" familiars with the dragon page update. I like this concept.

Support! I have so many awoken familiar that sit there and just. Exist a little. It'd be sweet if they occasionally gave me a flower :)

I'd definitely support an idea like this! It'd give awakened familiars more use (other than now being named!) aside from sitting around, or getting turned into mats.

I have to say no support for bonding with awakened familiars giving items or anything extra.

I would much rather have a mechanic in which we can use awakened familiars.

I would rather not feel like I need to bond with awakened familiars to get the rewards, but much rather have a fun new mechanic to play with, and have that use awakened familiars.

@Jemadar while I get what you're saying, the difference between the level of overhaul and time an entirely new feature would take vs what would be needed for "now bonding with familiars that are awakened isn't basically useless" is huge. I'd love a new minigame esque feature where you can actually interact with familiars, a huge overhaul to the familiar system would be incredible.

I also don't think it's realistic in any reasonable timeframe. Even if it's only implemented as a placeholder feature until a drastic overhaul of familiar interaction can happen, getting some occasional gifts from the pets/friends/ambassadors that spend time with your dragons makes sense and seems behind-the-scenes cost effective.

Support, receiving trinkets or food items occasionally would be cute. I'd even support a tiny chance to get a chest.

Awakening the familiar is meant to be the end. You aren't really meant to bond with them forever; it's meant to be eventually switched.

So, no support.

[/quote] i mean, i don't think they meant "awoken familiars need to give 38074448057430874 treasure", it's just that familiars when awoken don't do much, and an item like a little flower or a simple trinket would be a sweet, wholesome addition

I'm not suggesting infinite tiers of bonding with new rewards for new levels.

I'm suggesting that like, maybe a few times a week an awakened familiar brings you a present. It's good for people who name their familiars and have lore reasons for keeping them on a dragon past getting the awakened chest, but isn't enough to put awakened fams on all your dragons for the Sick Loot, patent pending.

the tl;dr is it's not enough to make people want to keep awakened familiars on their dragons if there isn't a lore or aesthetic reason. It's not 'every time you bond'. It's not 'get a new chest every day.'
