TOPIC | Potions that change one color
1 2 3 4 5
I don't know if it happens to more than one person but i've been in the situation where i love two out of three colors of the dragon and i don't want to risk them all
There could be three potions, one for each gen, like the gen remover, that change randomly one color

Could this be a good idea?

Also i would suggest a way to at least copy the name of one of the items needed in the swipp swap or have them written in the dialogue just to make them easier to look for in the auction house or the mini book to see where it drops

Support. A single-color scatter scroll at 1,050g, triple the cost of a regular scatterscroll, would be a wonderful addition.

The odds of being able to roll an XYZ into a double or triple are so small and would be so costly that it can't be considered as a reasonable argument against a single-color scatterscroll.

In the case of progens especially, where we never got a choice of tert and any attempt to get a better one using a regular scatterscroll is guaranteed to remove our original color choices, this is a necessary addition.

No support. Use the first dragon as a breeding stud to get a color you'd like more.

1:177 aren't actually small odds, for the record. These are the odds to get a double if you have a XYZ, and a triple if you used it on a XXY.

Definitely an item I would love, but I would rather not see it implemented. There should be some challenge and misfortune to the game so that not everything is easy to obtain.

I know the feeling of hatching an egg and having one color be bad while everything else matches. I just sell the dragon and move on.

This misfortune is part of what makes Gen 1s so valuable: the random chance they ended up with these colors, whether by hatching or scattering.

Like Corviknight said, if you're not a Gen 1 collector, you can use the existing dragon for a breeding project to get an outcome you're more happy with.
.6% chance of success is not good odds by any stretch Edit: At that rate, you’d have to use nearly 50 of these scrolls for a 20% chance of getting a double from a XYZ. Even if somehow they only cost as much as a regular scatterscroll, that’d cost 17kg for a 20% chance of success. With a believable cost of 1kg+, that would be 50kg for a 20% chance. It would never be worth it to try for a double from an XYZ. It wouldn’t even be worth it to try for a triple from a double. A scroll like this would be for irreplaceable dragons mostly, progens, special digits, etc. at best you could try for color ranges like off-whites, blues, reds, etc. any specific color would not be feasible for these scrolls.

Full support, even moreso for an option that would allow people the chance to reroll their custom progen's unfortunate tert colours.

There's absolutely no reason to be against this. 'it removes the challenge' isn't a good excuse when we already have tricolour scatters. This would do the same thing where the colour you get on your selected gene slot would be totally random.

Tri-scatter scrolls do not remove any challenge; in fact, they tend to incorporate even more challenge. Some people use them and get a worse color combination than before. Some people take on scatter projects to get nice combinations. The challenge there is getting enough money to roll the dice enough to land somewhere you enjoy. The difference between a tri-scatter scroll and a solo-scatter scroll is that the tri-scatter scroll is completely random, while the solo-scatter scroll offers security. You can rest easy knowing only one color will be messed up, and you're probably more likely to land on a color that works with the existing two rather than not if you're not aiming for a double or triple. You can be against such an idea — or, really, any — because it wouldn't be a good fit for the game. That's pretty much how I feel about it. From a player's perspective, I would absolutely love an item like this. From a gameplay perspective, it doesn't seem like a good fit. Now, if these items existed solely for progenitor dragons...that's something I can get behind, as progenitor dragons cannot leave your lair.

This would do the same thing where the colour you get on your selected gene slot would be totally random.
I'd disagree with that; tricolor scatters are a risk, because you're losing the other colors that you may like. A single-color scatter would have no element of risk, since general-you already didn't like the color general-you're theoretically scattering (…I mean, if you liked it, why scatter in the first place?) The worst that happens with a single-color scatter is you get another color you dislike, meaning it would be the same and not (as with tricolor scatters) possibly worse. Mechanically, it's very different even though it doesn't seem like it should be. For an example, say you have a beige/flaxen/magenta. You want to get rid of the magenta, but like the beige/flaxen. Single-color scatter, you roll, you get sapphire. You still don't like sapphire, but you haven't lost the beige/flaxen. You're in exactly the same place as you started. Tri-color scatterscroll, same starting colors. You roll, you get swamp/orchid/orange. You've lost the beige/flaxen/x you liked. That was the risk you took. The next scatter you might get something amazing, or you might get something hideous. A single-color scroll entirely negates that risk. Edited to clarify what part of the quote I'm responding to, and also adding that I don't think a way to change unfortunate terts on a custom progen is necessarily something that shouldn't happen— progens are account bound already, so a lot of the game mechanics are already not really there in the same way for them. But I do think that tri-color scatters and single-color scatters would be mechanically very different from each other in terms of gameplay.

@contaminate

.6% chance to get a triple isn't actually low, considering how much Gen 1 triples sell for.

I'd support this, if it was impossible to use them on Gen 1s, actually. If you want to throw your money in the fire, rather than rebreed, why not? For Gen 1? Hell no, dawg.

There isn't much of a Gen 2 market to crash - Gen 2 Imperials still sell for a lot, on virtue of being Imperials, and everything else is f o d d e r
