Many dragons in my lair need artificial limbs. The problem is, there isn't always a simple way to show it.
-UMAs can be expensive, and I might want to put my money elsewhere (for example, genes or apparel). They are also restricted to one pose, and might not be available for less popular poses, like Snapper or Ridgeback M. While it can be useful for Ancients (having no clothes), it isn't always the best option for Moderns.
-Certain apparel can be layered to give the illusion of prosthetic limbs, but this is not possible for certain outfits, as it will cause layering problems.
-Writing it down in lore and/or making art is simple, but some people (like me) prefer for their dragon's official image to be as accurate as possible to their own view.
So, I propose prosthetic limb apparel. This allows for a cheaper option than UMAs, lessens the chance of layering issues, and can be changed if the dragon is given to another player who wants different lore. Each set would probably be three pieces: arm, leg, and wing. Not all dragons have all limbs visible (Tundra and Mirror M poses), so I am not sure if there can be separate apparel for all six limbs.Cursed idea: Scroll of Limb Removal. Removes a random limb. You have to buy the prosthetic limb and/or buy a Scroll of Limb Regeneration, which could either result in a regenerated limb or growing a random extra limb.
Prosthetic set ideas
-Steampunk/Dieselpunk: For those who want something more advanced than wood, but not extremely futuristic. Could be part of an alternate steampunk/dieselpunk set. Either a Lightning invention, or a Fire one.
-Futuristic: Lightning may currently be in the 1920s, but as evidenced by Voltvolley Implements, this is starting to change. The gap for technology is closing, and new, more advanced gear is being invented. Who's to say futuristic limbs are out fo the question?
-Wooden: For the pirate in your life. More mundane than sci-fi/fantasy, but still pretty neat.
-Modern: Based off modern-day prosthetic limbs. More current than the wooden leg, but not as speculative as futuristic or steampunk/dieselpunk.
Alternative idea:
-Magic: Magic leg? Magic leg. Dragons being able to manipulate the elements can lead to some pretty neat stuff. Body horror Plague limb, blacksmith-forged Fire limb, frozen Ice limb, Arcane tentacles, etc. etc. Perfect for mages or magical inventors.
Other ideas or Constructive Criticism are greatly appreciated!
