TOPIC | Un-Retire Familiars + Items
1 2 3 4 5 6 7
Hello! As someone who stopped playing FR for a handful of years and missed a lot, along with countless other users and newbies, it's been very hard for me to catch up and collect what I'm missing!

I feel like the original Sprite familiars and holiday apparel should be available in Spare Inventory Crates. At LEAST. Maybe even Wildclaw scrolls, or have some way to get them again! The prices for these now-unavailable items on the market are frankly prohibitive and having a chance to get them again might at least drop their prices to more reasonable amounts. It's just not fair to those who have missed out on these things, not to be able to collect them if they want them.

I mean, who has 15000 gems to spend on a single retired familiar or item??? Or a billion treasure??? It's JUST not fair.

EDIT: Good arguments everyone! I don't have the attention span to read every page at once, but so far, excellent points on the first couple. I didn't realize Roundsey had retired items up sometimes, and I also didn't know they set Wildclaw scrolls to cycle instead of completely retiring them like they originally said they would- that's nice. I do still feel that having to save up for YEARS to get a SINGLE item on ANY site is ridiculous though. This sort of thing is why I stopped playing Neopets, for example.

As far as Roundsey and the economy are concerned, I haven't seen too much of a drop in price in 2016+ items honestly, even though they ARE available in crates. The prices of those items are STILL more reasonable than the items nobody can get anymore though! I don't care that the Sprites would lose their resale value- it's ROBBERY to ask for tens or hundreds of thousands of gems for ANY item. (/opinion)

With the recolors added to the crates as well, the chances of getting these things are so slim in the first place, I really don't see the big issue with putting them into crates as well, but maybe I just don't understand economics as well as I should.

Imagination is the reality of our dreamscape.
For sprites: no support. That would seismically shift the economy.

For other holiday items: most items are, just not the first three years'.

For WC scrolls: they're not retired, they're cycled out.

In general, there seems to be this pervasive attitude on FR that everything has to be available to everyone, and that limited and retiring items are inherently unfair. Most games operate like this, and somehow I don't see similar fairness complaints on other sites or other games; it's a part of how a game stays open, by attracting and retaining people with limited events and items. Do I want to save up the equivalent of a thousand dollars in gems for a Light Sprite? No. Do I want a Light Sprite? Sure, I'd love one. But I don't want to put in the effort right now. That doesn't mean I get to accuse the devs of unfairness; you cannot accommodate everyone that didn't even know the game existed at its inception, which seems to be a prevailing argument. I joined only after the first fest, so I never got a set of the original light apparel or a sprite, but does that mean I'm owed one? I wasn't aware of one of my now-favorite artist's pins until after my favorite design was retired—now that I'm a patron of theirs, does that mean I'm owed a retired pin? No.

You have Fiona to bond these familiars. We no longer need them to be rereleased.
For other holiday items: as far as I know, everything except the first-year apparel, the armbands, and the flight emblems are available in Spare Inventory Crates, although I could be wrong. For the first-year apparel, see above; for the armbands, they've been around since the beginning, and they're only just now being retired as this cycle of festivals ends.
It's actually any Festival items starting with Brightshine 2016 that can be found in Joxar's box. So festival Years 1-3 are not available in it. The armbands were retired in Year 1. You're thinking of the Emblems which are being retired after this year and will be added to Joxar's box at the end of this festival year. In regards to this suggestion, I support all festival items (including Fest Chests) being available through Joxar's Spare Crate at whatever RNG amount the staff feels is best for the game/economy. I dislike inconsistency and it's unfair the festival items from Years 1-3 are treated differently from Years 4+, allowing them to attain values that other festival items can't. I also want people who collect Fest Chests to have a way to get them post a festival.

The sprites and other festival items pop up in Roundsey to keep some in circulation. Roundsey is the compromise that came out over months of debating the retirement of the first festival items. As one who was arguing to cycle the festival items, I am happy with the compromise. (Now, if players feel Roundsey doesn't offer enough, that's another debate. But it's one I will bow out of as I feel I don't have enough information on the number of available festival items to make an informed decision on the matter.)

Pings are disabled.

If writers are supposed to "show not tell," why are we called "storytellers" and not "storyshow-ers"?
No support. As others have said, Roundsey is the current compromise to circulate a limited amount of retired items, Fiona exists to let people bond with retired familiars they do not own, and you don’t have the right to own every single item for a reasonable amount, sucky as that is.

If we're going off of "fairness", as this seems to be, then get rid of Roundsey because that's the most unfair feature of the site (just a comparison, I don't actually mean we should). I've become a bit indifferent to the matter. I'll leave that debate up to everyone else, but I don't think fairness is always the best reason to unretire something and make it easier to obtain. Some things are inherently unfair to serve an alternate function. It's possible this has been left as such to give players a long term goal to work toward.

Also, never support for WC scrolls being thrown into Joxar's box or anything other than the gem MP. They appear yearly around the same time where they can be bought for their original 2kg in the gem MP. They're more "soft retired" than actually retired, and do cycle in like various apparel items. Having slightly overpriced items isn't really an inherently bad thing either. If WC scrolls were actually retired for no good reason? Sure, bring them back (but god, no, not in anything like Joxar... it's a gem item and should remain such) but they aren't and you just need to wait a bit. I believe they should be cycling in soon.

As for 15kg, it's actually not too hard to get. Especially if you make heavy use of NotN where you can make a massive amount of gems. I've seen people make upwards of 60kg over the course of NotN from selling chests. Also, at the current rates, that 15kg is 19.5 million treasure. You can make 2.25 million a month by doing the Fairgrounds daily, and that's ~9 months. For a game item worth ~150$, that's not really that bad considering the Fairgrounds takes very little effort. More effort into other things also means that you'll get there faster.

There's no reasons for this suggestion given besides "I want things that don't affect gameplay"

Sprites serve no function besides that of a single familiar, and the early ones are valuable because they are rare. No support for tanking their value just because someone wants one without paying the price sellers are asking. You're just gonna have to get over not having a tiny portion of familiars.

Wildclaw scrolls cycle. No support because it's a non-issue.

It doesn't sound at all like you took a break after playing for a while. It sounds like you made an account early on, didn't participate in early festivals and thus didn't get those early festival items, and now want the early festival items.
