It's not a secret that there's a number of players who consider Primal and/or Multigaze a type of body horror and would prefer not to see those dragons. I've heard at least a couple of players say that they've stopped breeding altogether because they don't want to hatch a Primal.
I don't share the horror of Primal or Multigaze, but Goat eyes do freak me out badly enough that if I hatch Goat eyes on a species with larger/more noticeable eyes on a hatching (like Faes or Spirals), I will exalt the dragon immediately because I can't deal with it. (I last did this a couple of months ago with a Fae.) Faceted also kind of grosses me out too tbh.
I know that the MP has a "revert to Common" scroll which is fairly inexpensive. However, some of us don't even want to wait that long to apply the scroll (I will reiterate what I said about exalting immediately at hatching because it's just that bad). And if I'm breeding fodder, I don't want to spend 3kt on a scroll to change a dragon's eyes that I'm just going to be yeeting off, that rather eats up profit.
So, even though I'm prepared for this suggestion to get a lot of "no supports" (and the usual toxic flames of "don't play this game if you're going to be such a whiny baby about eyes" and whatever), I'm still going to dare to put the suggestion forth to allow us to toggle off hatching a specific special eye type like Primal, Multigaze, Goat or Faceted. I will emphasize the word "toggle", so those who still like hatching babies with special eyes can do so. The concept of having a toggle means those who choose to toggle it off can do so, without preventing those who want to hatch said eye types, from doing so.
Also to make this abundantly clear, I'm not asking to toggle off Common, Uncommon, Unusual, or Rare. I'm only asking to toggle off Goat, Primal, Multigaze, or Faceted. (My "rare eyes" in the title should read "special eyes" and not be misinterpreted as the Rare eye type; it's like that because of the character limit in subjects. :P) My toggle suggestion is also only for breeding, and not to prevent said dragons from being viewed around the site (while I support a suggestion like that generally, this would probably be more difficult to code than a toggle just for breeding itself).
Thanks for your time!
EDIT: I have considered that turning off one rare eye type (like Goat) may increase the chance of others (like Primal) and skew the ratio and create a bit of a flood, thus crashing the special eye market. I would support a fix to balance this somehow so other eye types aren't unfairly weighted; not being a game developer myself I'm not sure how, but there's probably a way to do it.
EDIT 2:
By allowing people to 'opt out' of hatching those eyes, it would potentially slow primal's inevitable decline, simply because as time goes by, more and more primals will be hatched. Same for other natural eyes. People who turn those eyes off wouldn't be hatching primals, and thus wouldn't be adding to the number of primals on site.
I do think that all 'turned off' eyes should default to common. So rather than really preventing goat from showing up, if the dragon rolled goat and the account had goat turned off, it would just change it to common. This way, no matter how many people turn off any eye but primal, even if they turn off all eyes but primal, Primal is still going to be rare, because turning off the other eyes won't make primal more likely to hatch. It just means that the user is going to see a lot of common eyes, depending on how many they turn off.
