TOPIC | Baldwins Brew Transmutation Frustration
1 2 3
I like that it's possible to craft in flight rising, however, a lot of the crafting recipes require you to transmute objects for goo and sludge, and various other materials.

As a new player with limited funds, obtaining the transmuted objects has been a bit of a hassle. For example, if I need green goo, I break down 10 food items over the course of a long time, and I get every goo except for green. (If I transmute green plants, shouldn't their goo be green too =c ?)

This crafting process should take time, but I believe that it would be less frustrating if we could create a crafting schedule. Instead of having to check back with Baldwin every half hour to see if my goo is the right color, I could ask him to transmute another object right after the cauldron is available.

I believe making a queue for the cauldron would make the process a little less frustrating. Even if the queue only has a limited number of slots.

Another fix would be allowing us to transmute items in bulk. So that I can wait 2 hours for 4 goo, instead of 30 minutes for one. (It looks like this was supposed to be a thing, but the number selector only shows 1 when I click on it, and there's no way to change the number? I was disappointed when I saw that it didn't work.)

Even just giving a guaranteed material when you transmute specific items would help ease this frustration a lot. Basic transmutation materials just don't feel important enough to make them a hassle to obtain.

I am also a new player, so if I'm just blind or something, let me know

well it only takes a few clicks to transmute an item at baldwin's and besides if there was a queue then it would be too easy so i dont think its a good idea

Right now, I only get about 2/3 transmuted materials a day because I don't have 24/7 access to a device. It would be much less frustrating to get a specific material if I could make them in bulk, or if there was a queue, so that I'll have them when I hop back on in a few hours. Even just giving a guaranteed material when you transmute specific items would help a lot. There are ways to minimize this frustration without making the system OP

You're kinda meant to play the game, not let it play itself.

I for one could get behind a queue. I would even pay a few treasure to queue additional things. I'd happily pay 500t a pop to queue additional items.

I'm on my computer almost constantly and it's still annoying and time consuming to check baldwin, especially when my internet is slow.

OK, I’ll just break down a yellow into two greens. No blues? OK, I’ll just combine three purples into a blue.

I support a queue, only if

1. you can't cancel it. You have to commit to the time total. or, you can, but you lose everything in the batch.

2. can't collect anything until after everything finishes.

3. there's a limit to the total number of things that can be queued, based on time (so you can queue any items up to a total of say, 24hrs, anything that has an individual brew time beyond 24hrs can't be queued automatically.)

I can see people having some reservations about allowing this because it would make it "too easy" to obtain stuff, despite many of the high value recipes requiring multiple brew stages and rare items obtained elsewhere. I think these three points address most of those concerns while allowing people, especially new players trying to level up their cauldron, a way to do that a little more easily. I have full unlocks, but i still want to eventually get to 99 of every crafted transmutation ingredient, and it's just so much of a pain that i don't want to bother using the feature.

[/quote] personally I have always felt that a queue should go up to six hours or eight hours. That would be 12 or 16 items (2 items per hour). That way people can stick stuff in the cauldron while they go to work or go to sleep, allowing it to work, but they would still have to check back 3 or 4 times a day to add new stuff. AS you said, no cancelling, so they have to be sure they want to take up all that time, and no collecting until everything is finished would work. I also wouldn't mind either it being a perk for reaching a certain level (ie, you have to put enough effort in to reach say level 15 but once you hit 15 you can then start using a queue) or you have to pay a nominal fee to use it. (by nominal I don't mean like 100K treasure or anything in gems, but rather say 100 or 1000 treasure per item in the queue)

I agree that being able to queue up items to go into the pot would be awesome. The issues are ads on the site. They want us clicking on a new page as often as possible to have us see more ads. To resolve this issue, when you queue things up, they could have it pop up in your alerts every so often to "check status" where you have to click on the page to have it continue processing. It's faster and less cumbersome. I don't think it will save any time, however, in the long run.

But, they could also have more ads on each step of the process for queueing items up. That would resolve the issue.

I absolutely support the idea of a Baldwin queque, there can be limits placed on it of course. Maybe you can only queque so many items at a time to be melted. My adhd brain makes Baldwin incredibly difficult to use and keep up with. This would resolve a lot of frustration. Checking FR every 30 minutes seems like overkill to me, maybe it could be changed to every few hours. There could be some kind of barrier put in place to make it less easy and not drastically change the value of items. Maybe Baldwin queque slots could be purchased or unlocked like lair or den slots.

As far as guaranteed materials from Baldwin, I don't support that. I don't think removing Baldwin rng would be good for the economy. It could alter the value of mats. If you are really struggling to get a specific color mat than you can literally convert mats through Baldwin, that feature was added just recently and it's a huge huge improvement.
