TOPIC | Refuse Den Task (updated)
1 2 3
I was thinking there could maybe be a once-daily ability for us to "refuse" a den task, aka it gets sent back into the tasks but at the end.

This would help people get past certain tasks that are perhaps blockading them from completing later ones, but without completely breaking the current system.

I suggest this partly because I'm not happy giving the Hibernal Den system eggs. I realize they're pixels, but I feel somewhat squeamish about doing so. Since we've removed the egg viability aspect of the game, I think this could be something that's also considered.

Edit:

Thank you to everyone who has commented so far. I've come up with some alternatives to try and address some of the points brought up. Would any of these suggestions better balance what other people are concerned about?

1. Making the refusal permanent.
In this case, the user loses the chance to complete the den task forever.

2. Paying a treasure fee to skip the task
(50k tr, based on the existing tab pricing, for instance, please comment on what pricing you think might be appropriate)
It's fairly situational, but allows for a user to skip past specific tasks they may not want to complete for whatever reason. This still doesn't unlock the slot; it merely sends the task back into the pile.

3. Raise the number of tasks offered from 10 Den tasks to 12 (or 15, etc, whatever number works).
Since there are 11 flights and 11 egg tasks (afaik), this means someone could still complete the other den tasks without having to turn in eggs

4. Move Egg Tasks to the end (?)
This one I thought might be the most contentious, but would functionally accomplish the same thing.

Again, thank you to everyone who commented. I personally have been stuck with a bunch of egg tasks, which is why this occurred to me, and I appreciate the wider perspective.

People would just dismiss the expensive ones and never do them, those tasks are hurdles to get to the rest of the space.

As someone who has nothing but eggs and genes blocking me from turning anything else in, support. Any way to temporarily cycle these to continue your tasks.

I turned in an egg and I got another egg task. This has happened multiple times. I'm fine turning in eggs, but right now I have been stalled for months because I simply haven't found an egg of the right element, and selling an egg of the wrong element for 300g gets me 6 den spaces instead of one.

I dunno, I feel like the expensive tasks (like the eggs, boss familiars, breed changes, and gene scrolls) are sprinkled into the middle to force people to eventually complete at least one of them in order to access the less expensive ones. They're roadblocks, and being able to skip them would mean they don't function as such anymore.

Coming from someone with currently five egg tasks.. I've got to say no support.
People would just dismiss the expensive ones and never do them, those tasks are hurdles to get to the rest of the space.

No support, what's the point of having pricier tasks if you can just ignore them and only do the cheap ones?

I feel like the whole point of the expensive items is to make the den tasks slower.
otherwise it'd be a ton free lair spaces for almost nothing

it actually makes the den something to work on y'know.

I had to do them, everyone else had to do them, and it would be a little insulting to just be able to ignore them forever until they're all that's left- not to be mean about it, just practically looking it's to take treasure and stuff out of circulation

I would love this but I wouldn't necessarily put the dismissed task at the end but randomly shuffled it back into the den tasks.

I am also not so sure about having said feature be daily-- or maybe how often you can shuffle it correlates to how many den tasks you have left. I think it's sensible to not want to turn in the expensive items until you're nearing the end of your hibernal den tasks. Imagine if apparel unlock slots instead of being exponential in price were completely random...

In a way I think it would have worked well if you needed to unlock a certain amount of slots before eggs (and other high ticket items) were added to the pool but I think that ship has sailed :P

No support, either for skipping or reshuffling. Eggs and genes are the only things that keep the slots from being a while pile of borderline freebies. Heck, even eggs are free if you're willing to put time into it - or wait til NotN and trade Noc eggs for elemental ones. No-one's forced to spend money on anything except genes, and FR does not make it hard to earn that much treasure. Tasks turn up in a specific order, and they're are nearly 100 of them before you hit the first egg task.
