TOPIC | Small stuff about new event item method
[Edit: I just saw the same suggestion a few down after posting this. Apologies! I can remove if needed.] Sorry the title is probably a little unclear, I wasn't sure how to word it. Basically I'm referring to the new way that we have been getting DD items (and now for meat heat), where we are acquiring them from site activities outside of the coli. First off, I want to say that I love this new system; I think it's really cool how it makes events a bit less coli-centric and makes other site activities feel more rewarding and interesting. I like that it seems it's going to stay moving forward, and that older events like the food mini-fests are getting the treatment (so maybe notn will as well??) My suggestion is a bit nitpicky, but I don't want it to sound ungrateful! Again, I like the system a lot. I may have a bit of trouble wording this, but here goes... I feel like in a some areas, the item pop-ups/placements can disrupt the "flow" of certain site activities. I noticed this on the very first day of gathering for DD, where the "continue gathering" button was in a different spot depending on whether or not an event item was gathered that turn. This is compared to when there are no event items, where the continue button is in the same place every turn. Before, I could quickly click through all of my gathering turns; I can't do that anymore. The other area I notice this in is Tomo. If you get an item from a question, the pop up is over in the middle of the page (not near the side where you're answering questions). On PC, at least the OK button is automatically selected, so you can just hit enter to close the pop-up - it still messes with the flow a bit, but it's not quite as annoying (imo) as gathering. However, this one is particularly bothersome on mobile, where there is no enter key, and you have to scroll over to the pop-up if you're zoomed in on the question area. These two are really the only areas that have been bothering me, though. Pinkerton, fiona/fams, and nesting/hatching have always had pop-up type prompts and/or no "move on to the next one" buttons (like gathering and Tomo), so the item addition is much less intrusive here (for lack of a better word). I'm realizing now this sounds like more of a complaint than a suggestion, and I also am completely aware of how minor this is [emoji=obelisk laughing size=1] Again, I don't want to be ungrateful, I like the new event system! I'm also not suggesting that gathering and Tomo stop rewarding items entirely. I think it would be helpful for Tomo to keep the item pop-up closer to the question area (or just in line with the question, and not a pop-up at all, if possible). The gathering one is slightly tougher, because to keep the button in the same place every turn regardless of event item would probably mean the special items were alongside the normally-gathered ones, and it would very much dampen the "ooh look at this new thing you got" effect. Not sure the best route on that one! Thats it, I guess! If it doesn't happen, I wouldn't be broken up over it, it's just a little QoL thing! But also, feel free to tell me I'm crazy on this, maybe it's just me, haha!

Support! I came here to suggest the same thing about gathering, perhaps moving the additional drops beside the regular loot or underneath the buttons, so the button is in the same place regardless of if a special item drops. It makes it difficult to click through gathering quickly when the buttons move every single time.

We're already used to checking the far right of the gathering drops for fest currency/chests. I don't think it would be that strange to just add event items over there too.

Support, especially on gathering it's not too nice on my wrists and obnoxious to have to stop to get the item.

~ I do intend to put more stuff here as time goes on! I may add a link to certain spreadsheets or wishlists! ~
Support! I've been really pressed for time with RL stuff this week and it keeps bugging me how the popup's location slows down my ability to get things done quick when I need it most ;;;;

I agree. I love having items drop like this, but it kind of breaks up certain tasks and for those of us with a well developed muscle memory for them, it can get annoying. I definitely like the idea of having the items that drop from gathering show up in the same row as the other items like fest currency, instead of at the bottom, thus changing the placement of the button to keep gathering.

Support! I have been thinking the same thing since dustcarve started, I know it's small but it does make gathering more of a pain
