TOPIC | Fix gathering screen button placement
1 2 3 4
Hi all, I really don't like the new placement of the 'go back' and 'repeat gathering' buttons on the gathering page. There's too much empty space and the buttons themselves are cut off on my screen to the point where I now have to scroll down the page to find them. Having to scroll down to get to the buttons for every single gathering turn is extremely annoying and I'd like this to be addressed.

Assuming this new placement is intentional due to the new random item drop system that was added with dustcarve and not the result of a glitch, (and yes the button jumping was a problem when DD was running, but this new format is just as bad!) I'd like to request the buttons be moved back to their original place right underneath the list of items you've gathered on that turn.

Any random additional event items that have a chance to drop from gathering like the DD/sunparched or other micro-holiday stuff should be treated the same way as NOTN strange chests or festival currency gathering drops work with the normal gathering system, these random, event specific drops don't need half of the gathering screen dedicated to it when it's only going to sit there empty and bloating the page for most of the year.

According to the dev post here https://www1.flightrising.com/forums/bug/3029139/5#post_48119275 the change was intentional. I really don't understand why they went with this route though, it's the worst possible solution to the button jumping problem the extra dustcarve item drops caused.

I support changing the page layout back to how it used to be, the scrolling to reach the repeat gathering button is inconvenient and really annoying.

While personally this is a fine solution for me, it seems like there's got to be a better way to handle this so that like... half the site isn't inconvenienced by it. Making improvements for one group at the expense of another isn't great.

Please fix this devs, the longer the format stays like this, the more frustrated I get with it.

Only support if they find a fix to the issue of the button jumping first as bringing the other problem back is not a good or fair solution.

I made a quick mock-up of what I thought may make sense for improvements. Ideally, this would be my preferred layout and QOL changes. Main page: Pretty good as-is, it would be nice to be able to do more than one gathering turn at a time. If the number of items generated is a concern, maybe you can only do 5 turns at a time, like how you can only open 10 chests at one time. Gathering page: This is what I think would make sense. Sorry for the strange sizing of things. Was trying to not spend too much time making this look pretty. In short, put the navigation buttons on the right side, and the items gathered on the left. This allows for a bunch of lines for generated items. You'd be able to select the number of repeated turns as well, maybe having it default to whatever number you chose on the main page, and only have numbers up to the gathering turns you have remaining. It would also have in the text what Flight you're gathering in. And if they wanted, there could be a space or divider between normally gathered items and "special" items. Perhaps even a small text divider that says what the event is that the items pertain to. - UPDATED to show what event items would look like.

Current "solution" is worse than the original problem.

The could mix the dustcarve dig items with the regular items, or put the buttons on the side as suggested, or even put the dig items Below the buttons.

Any of these options would be better than what has been implemented.

Support changing this.

Someone in the bug reports thread for this suggested having the buttons be moved to the top of the page instead of the bottom, which I think would make a ton more sense. As it is right now, it looks awful and I imagine very confusing as who would normally think to check past a giant gap for a missing button?

As for everyone saying the current solution is "worse," keep in mind that's your own experience. The buttons jumped around for me before the fix. They no longer jump around for me after the fix. Thus, in my experience, the fix is better for me.

However, it is clear that this does inconvenience a fair number of people. And quite frankly, the fix is ugly. So, I'll support doing a more permanent (and prettier) fix, but I would prefer to NOT go back to the way it was previously.

So, no support for the original suggestion, but I support doing something that works for the majority of the players and looks nicer.
