making my own thread about this because i was just offered a hefty sum of money to go through a person's lair and like all their dragons. it feels like things are just getting out of hand. hiding likes isn't enough, because the likes are still there. please give us the option to actually disable likes. my poor anxiety riddled heart can't take this

Going by this player's response in one of the other Disable Likes threads, they mean the players that are offering to pay for players to like their dragons (as in the dragons in their lair), not somebody else's dragons.
I'd imagine attempting to solicit Likes for somebody else's dragons (whether that player wanted the Likes or not) would be a reportable offense.
Edit: OP, in the event somebody is actually offering you treasure to Like dragons that do not belong to them or are otherwise in a lair/hib den that is not their own, I would report them to the Devs immediately using either the Report button or the Contact Us page.

Oh, if it's just offering to like their own dragons, then that's fine and there's no actual harm in that. I still support though because I'm gonna support all 8 million of these threads until we get a real disable lol

I will voice my support here as well. This is something that should have existed when Likes were rolled out. Options are good. Hide, disable, enable, everyone, no one, friends only, flight only. All communication should have those options.

Pings are disabled.
If writers are supposed to "show not tell," why are we called "storytellers" and not "storyshow-ers"?
i think a good addition would be that maybe you only have a certain amount of likes to "spend" a day. to me the likes are a way of saying "i was here and i like ur derg" in someones lair but buying likes for popularity intentions?? idk it rubs me the wrong way

That's not going to fix the issue at hand, though, and you'll still find things like this going on. It'll just likely be more being offered if the person is someone that does try to use their likes for the purposes the system was added. Unless there's an option for likes to be completely disabled, there will always be people going around doing this to cause stress and anxiety to people that don't like it. Whether or not someone sees it as a popularity contest doesn't matter here.
I support the option to disable likes.

No support for limiting how many dragons you can like in a day, I like dragons very liberally [this dragon looks cute? has a creative concept? has something funny in their bio? you bet i'm liking them], so having a limit would feel like a limit on being able to interact with the community for me, similar to having a limit on forum posts. Also if people want to buy likes on their dragons, let them, it's their treasure.
That being said, support for players being able to disable likes. I enjoy liking dragons a lot, but I want to be sure that the dragon's owner enjoys having their dragons liked. If they disable their likes, I know they don't want likes. Currently if you don't want likes on your dragon, you have to list it on your clan profile, forum sig, etc, and that can easily be missed.

What is disabling likes, how is it different from hiding likes, and how would it stop people from asking you to like their dragons?
Also, why is people trading or buying likes so horribly offensive to you as a concept? It doesn't affect you in any way.
If someone PM'd you for likes, that's spam and reportable. But it isn't the fault of the likes system, it's a problem with that player not understanding personal boundaries and the rules around PMing specifically for requests. The same thing could happen with someone asking you to buy their dragons, bump their thread for them, etc. I'm just not seeing why this suggestion is necessary or how it would even help with this specific problem.

1. Disabling likes is not the same as hiding them, the same way, say, hiding comments is not the same as disabling them. If you just hide comments, you know that people are likely still commenting on your page, out-of-sight out-of-mind doesn't work for everyone. Same logic for disabling/hiding likes.
2. While OP hasn't clarified yet, it could be they were asked to like the dragons of a person who doesn't want likes. Otherwise, nyea there's nothing wrong with buying likes.
