I have seen whole threads full of hybrid dragons, and some of them look really cute!
You can’t say no to these babies, right..? I wouldn’t in a million years :) and it wouldn’t even have to be all breeds, just some that look really nice together like the bbs below.

My initial idea for it would be that certain dragons, when bred, had a small chance of producing a hybrid baby. The only means of obtaining them would be breeding, as it makes sense for it to work like this. Say a tundra and an imperial, I would imagine the tundra’s crazy amounts of fluff and thick tail, with the imperial’s lean body and broad wings. I feel that this idea will have some mixed opinions, but in the end I would be quite grateful to have this added into the game!

Generally people are not in favor of adding new RNG aspects to breeding. This would also lock G1s or existing dragons out of being these new "hybrid" breeds, or, otherwise, these hybrids would be indistinguishable from other breeds entirely.

Either every hybrid requires new artwork for apparel, or two moderns have a chance of producing an offspring that's essentially a glorified ancient that can't breed or wear apparel. Both of these require also creating new gene art- you would basically have staff putting in all the effort of creating a new breed without actually creating a new breed.
Overall, as cute as it is, it feels unrealistic. The only way I could see it working is, if one day, we got two ancients designed from inception to interbreed and potentially create hybrids; however, I don't see that happening, as people would also want this feature for other ancients, which poses the same issues with gene art.

If writers are supposed to "show not tell," why are we called "storytellers" and not "storyshow-ers"?

Also, it was touched upon earlier, but having 'official' hybrids would mean that people who have 'unofficial' hybrids would potentially no longer be able to do so.
IE, if someone says that their hybrid fae/imperial has a long neck like a fae, mane like an imperial, and fae wings, but the 'official' hybrid has fae frills, tail, imperial wings, and a much shorter neck, and there is artwork to support the official version, many people would feel that this is the only 'valid' version. Look at how many people take the breed artwork we have now and feel it is 'set in stone' that this is how all members of a particular breed look. IE, females of a breed has a certain number of horns, or always has their crest feathers positioned a certain way and so on.
This would also be frustrating in both 'I would love to make my beloved existing dragon a hybrid, but there is no way' and a 'I was breeding for a specific dragon, and I got that dragon but it is a hybrid!' which means more money spent changing that dragon to what it is supposed to be, and you are out of luck if you wanted an imperial. (and the potential 'value' of the dragon due to small amount of RNG doesn't make up for the time and effort wasted trying to get the specific dragon, especially if you really dislike that particular hybrid).
This would force people who don't want hybrid dragons to have only single breed pairs, much like I have heard that the eyecapalypse forced some players to move flights due to not wanting to get the primal of the flight they are in.
Also, as said, this would mean that we probably would never get another modern breed, and the focus would shift entirely to ancients, due to them not being able to be 'hybridized' since they can only breed with their own breeds. Because every single modern to come would not only have to have hybrids against every existing breed, but each new modern would mean that much additional work added to future moderns.
All for a very small chance that some players will be happy to get hybrids.
