I would like to suggest the addition of a calendar somewhere to the site where the dates of events and holidays are highlighted.
I feel this is sorely needed at this point. In the beginning, it was fairly easy to remember that flight festivals started around the end of the month and the anniversary was somewhere near the beginning of June...but now, there's things like seasonal mini-events, Warrior's Way, Valentine's Day and Talk Like A Pirate Day to keep track of as well, and, like...I've got a life. I can't remember when all of these are off the top of my head, and since many events now give items through dailies but not all of them have a gathering alert advising you to save your turns until after the event begins, I end up missing out on things.
So what I'd like to propose is twofold. The first being a dedicated calendar page of some sort of format that will allow players to see the planned event days for that year so they can either mark it down elsewhere or just have it to check when they're unsure of something's start date. The second being, perhaps, a small calendar widget on the site's main page that only shows either the current week or the current month (clicking on it would lead to the actual full calendar page, though) which would, like the full calendar, show the start and end dates for planned events.
Of course, the full calendar page would include some kind of disclaimer saying things like:
- Events typically start at 6:00 server time, though there may be delays.
- Cooperative events (like Dustcarve Dig) do not have a set end date and will go until they're done, whenever that may be.
- New events may be added at any time but those are just the ones currently scheduled.
Yes, this would require the devs to announce festival dates well in advance. I don't see that as unreasonable, especially given how some skin contest threads (which usually accompany the event date announcement) have come out much later than others.
I just feel that some kind of function that tells when all of the various little things that go on around here happen could be useful for the busy, timeblind, or just plain curious.
