I read somewhere that the current dragon naming policy punishes users with offensively-named dragons in their lair or that they have exalted. In a casual exalter's case, this might be reasonable. However, in a case where someone is simply rushing to exalt dragons and may not have noticed the name at all after exalting tens of thousands of dragons in a week, it seems somewhat unfair to pin the responsibility on the person who accidentally bought/exalted the dragon in good faith. The person at fault is the one who named it, and the person who will repeat the offense is more likely to be the one who named it.
If an internal feature was added to record information when a dragon is named (it shouldn't be public, it should just be for staff's records), it should be easier to find the one responsible. It shouldn't be much more of a performance issue since people name dragons far less often than, say, feeding them. Whenever a dragon is named or renamed, a server request is already sent anyway, so it should be possible to additionally log essential info like dragon id, dragon name chosen, and user id of the person who named it. A dragon may be renamed many times, so it may also be important to log the date named for the individual record.
(Please don't discuss specific user account actions in this thread; I think that's against the forum rules. I am posting about a general personal concern and an internal feature in an attempt to hopefully improve staff actions about this issue in the future.)
Thanks!

I did think the burden of the actions was on the person who caused the offense (in this case, whoever gave the dragon the rule-breaking name), but if there's any sort of mechanism punishing/locking the exalter/buyer out, it'd be nice if it could get reviewed :(
Dom battles are very fast-paced, trainers and attendants don't have much time to check names and even if they do, the alternative is to try to block sellers to avoid accidental purchases, which is not an ideal solution.
And if the dragon was already bought, there's no alternative but spending treasure on renaming (that adds up fast). It's not like a dragon can be "deleted" if it has an offensive name...
So based on the lack of alternatives from the player side, I support a request for staff to please refine this mechanism to avoid punishing innocent players. :/ Even a short temporary lock could have considerable impact in dom efforts.

This would also be nice for people who don't bother to look at dragon names when they're buying fodder for profit. If you buy a dragon with a bad name, you have to pick between exalting something you know is against the rules, spending treasure to correct something you didn't cause, or reselling it to make it someone else's problem. All of those options suck, but there's not really any other option.

I once bought a dragon with an interesting name, checked the parents and all their offspring from the same nest (in different lairs by then) were named in a similar pattern, so it was kinda obvious who named them - I reported the player thinking that the data who actually caused the name was already tracked. So support, else this is a way to "sic" staff on someone you don't like, just, y'know, sell a dragon to them and then report "their" naming practices.

Ouch! punish buyer absolutelly wrong! They coud even do not have idea that dragon's name is somehow bad if this is word of foreign language!

Hello folks! Looks like there's been a bit of a misunderstanding. I can clear this up for you quickly.
We can see exactly who named a dragon and when they did so. When an exalted dragon has had its name changed by a Support team member, a message is sent to the player who exalted dragon (most recent owner) and the player who named it. This is a notification message only. This message also notes that depending on why the name was changed, a warning or suspension may have also been sent to the player.
What does this look like?
If a warning is sent, the private message is clearly labeled in the subject line ACCOUNT WARNING and the opening paragraph clearly states that this is a formal account action due to a violation of the rules.
If a suspension is issued, the player won't even see the notification message about a name change, as they are immediately logged out of their account and served a detailed pop-up notification. This pop-up clearly states the length of the suspension, the offense, and any specific or relevant details or notes, such as the dragon ID number and offending name.
If a player only receives the automated notification via private message that a dragon's name was changed, they have not been penalized and no formal actions were applied to their account. This notice is in part sent because we are aware some players like to keep track of their exalted dragons.
As this isn't an issue—players are NOT being penalized for exalting a poorly named dragon they themselves did NOT name—I'm going to go ahead and lock this thread now. Thank you!
