Similar ideas have been brought up in a few different threads, but nothing exactly like this, so I figured I'd make my own post.
Basically, a new Self-Service feature alongside Dragon Restoration and Item Restoration: Create New Progenitors. Instead of keeping the same set of dragons, but modifying their colors/element/whatever, it generates entirely new dragons to act as your lair's progens.
Potential problems:
Why do we need this service? Progenitors are meant to be special dragons, the creators of your entire lair, and many people build their lore around them. However, many more players make mistakes with their progens when they're newbies—picking out bad colors, breeding them and doing things with the offspring list they don't like, etc. With this, people could still have those "special" dragons, and have them be dragons they'd actually like and use.
In addition, this helps people who want to start their account over for some reason. The common advice given is to "exalt all your dragons, hoardsell everything, change UN, flight, and buy and hatch two new eggs to serve as fake progens." However, this is an unsatisfying answer, because 1) those eggs are random dragons treated the same as any other dragons by the game, and you don't get to create a custom, and 2) the old progenitors are still permanently tied to your account, no matter what you do. I feel like if people aren't going to be given the option to create a new account, they could at least be allowed to truly start over.
Pitches/feedback from the thread: (emphasis all mine)
Based on feedback, I feel like a good addition to this would be two options: the suggestion above, where you generate entirely new dragons, and also a service that just force-updates the progens' elements while keeping everything else intact. Boston and Hope changed elements, so we know it's possible.
In addition, maybe being able to pick only one or the other to reroll? As in, "I love my custom, but my random is so gross." and/or "I got a good random on this redo, but I want to keep rerolling my custom's tert without losing the random." OTOH, maybe being able to only do both at the same time would be a good drawback to the feature.

- In order to use the feature, your original/old progens would need to be exalted.
- Once the feature is used, those dragons would be turned into normal dragons and would no longer be restorable. (This prevents problems with breeding/lineage and also keeps people from gaming the system to sell valuable progens.)
- You would also (obviously) need two empty slots in your lair.
- The feature gives you the opportunity to create an entirely new custom progenitor with your clan's current Flight, and also rolls up a new random. They're given new IDs and treated as your progenitors for Restoration and any other purposes.
Potential problems:
- The service would probably need to cost a big chunk of gems, somewhere in the thousands, to offset the number of people who would create themselves a custom XXY or even keep rolling until they get a triple.
- It would need to be made very clear that once you use the service, your old progenitors are permanently exalted.

sounds interesting. but only if you put enough restrictions on it, otherwise i see it being exploited. a heavy cooldown, a hefty price tag and your previous progens getting exalted might help tho.

Support, but with cooldown. Progens can't be sold or anything so, I'm not sure how it could be exploited? Sure xxx and all that, be they couldn't be sold for profit.

i think it should be like flight and UN changes- one freebie, then costly.

The thing is, maybe some players want to redo their custom progens but keep the offspring list. However, I can also see why some people would want to wipe it. So it shouldn't be a "one or the other" deal.

Rather than a huge chunk of gems, I'd prefer a very long cooldown. As in a minimum of 1 year between uses. Otherwise I support.
