TOPIC | Why Lair Slot Expensive? | Achievements
Genuinely asking though, why is the lair sooo expensive? And it just gets exponentially worse for the same 5 slots the more you get.. And the only way to get lair slots is with treasure? I HAAATE having to get more lair slots.
Meanwhile, I really enjoy earning hibernal den slots with items!

Now, my suggestion:
There should be an achievement system with which you can get more lair slots individually. Things like "have one male and one female coatl" all the way up to "exalt a dragon with a primary of every color."

Lair expense reduces inflation (g:t ratio), exists as a treasure sink, offsets the profits available with more lair space, acts as a soft cap to lair size so you're not suddenly trying to feed 200 dragons and slows down maxing out the lair as the programmers work behind the scenes to figure out a way to scale up other aspects of the site to deal with larger lair spaces.

Examples of things need to be scaled up include inventory counts of what players own that is not in the Hoard/Vault, coliseum dragon selection, recalculating hunger 3x a day and probably the Nesting Grounds.

Achievements are being worked on and will be the LAST thing to be added once the site revamp is completed. I don't particularly care if achievements can unlock Lair slots but if so they should definitely scale in difficulty and what's been suggested hasn't yet.

I want to live in Theory. Everything works there.

Have you checked the Gem MP for Gene and Breed scrolls before buying an AH listing from me ending in 5g?
@Nightwind I seee... Ah how the pain continues. Thanks for replying though, I'm sure lair expansion has been talked about a million times before but I just wanted to suggest the achievement thing [emoji=sunglasses size=1]

The way I see it (and for the most part this is true) if you can't afford lair slots, you likely can't afford to feed the dragons that would be in your lair. So the price is not only a treasure sink but also a safeguard so that you don't have more dragons than you can afford to feed! That would be, to me, why the hibernal den is cheaper in a lot of ways. You don't need to feed it :)

I would actually really like achievements that function like that, though I think they would be better suited to the hibernal den rather than your main lair. For the hibernal den, there are items you can turn in to increase your space. I think adding to this system with achievements and tasks would work very well and be more fun than just turning in items.

It's not the price, its just that I have to pay it all in one go, which just isn't going to happen

If we could pay bit by bit it would be much easier to upgrade

If you could pay for it bit by bit, why can’t you put that ‘bit by bit’ in your Vault to save up for the expansion?

I do like the idea of having 'tasks' to complete in order to unlock more lair space, in the same way we do for the hibden.

I reckon the term 'achievements' is gonna throw some people off, because we used to have an achievement system, where you could earn badges and points (that did nothing by the way) by completing specific tasks or reaching certain thresholds. Combining the two would be a bit confusing imo. But in general having a task-based way to earn some lair space would be nice.

I do have to say I would love a system like the hibden for normal slots, and I think it would give more players a goal-oriented experience (which I really enjoy; I'm getting giddy thinking about trying to exalt dragons with a primary of every colour.)

BUT as Nightwind said, it's one of the few things that keeps the value of treasure stable. There would have to be a lot of thought put into what tasks/goals would be put in place of expensive prices.

P.S: I'm calling them tasks/goals instead of achievements, because I know the system is being worked on!
