So- what if we had a little toggleable bar on the side of our screen that shows "friends online" and each friend could pick a dragon and it made a cute little sprite of to represent them? Basically like how we have avatar dragons, except it would be a small animation (excluding apparel/skins, but the base genes)
kind of like the courier gifs

BUT- in addition to ones auto generated, you could also upload custom 150p animations :0 it would be great for artists on the site and I dont think we'd have to worry too much about inappropriate art as people can already add whatever they want into a dragon's bio

For animated sprites of selected avatar dragons—animation is a very involved process. It would be very time consuming to create one single animated sprite for every single breed, color, gene, and dimorphic combination. Because that's what would need to happen; I don't know of any way to combine gifs on the fly the way the static dragon images are generated. Add to that, skins, accents, and apparel would not be included, and for some dragons these drastically change their appearance. This is an incredible amount of work for very little gain, imo.
For custom animation, this brings up the same issues as allowing custom avatars at all. FR has never allowed custom avatars, which prevents issues such as inappropriate images, triggering images, inflammatory images, etc. It also keeps a standard art style across the site (with the caveat that, again, skins and accents can drastically change the overall appearance of a dragon, but the shape and line style should still match the site). Most importantly, users cannot impersonate staff and volunteer moderators—efforts to do so using a skin are shut down very quickly. With custom avatars, that's another thing the mods & staff will have to monitor and react to.

I don't have a serious opinion on this haha, but it's very cute and I love the animations you've made!! They're very lovely :D

I like the suggestion, but I think that it should be limited to a dragon sprite based around the emojis, rather than something fully customisable - the former is very much possible, while the latter...isn't.
So, you'd pick whatever breed represents you the most, and you'd have your moving or idle gif avatar.
But absolutely no to customs - a lot of people would just upload copyrighted or unsuitable for FR avatars.
