TOPIC | Bigger Lair = More Gathering Turns?
1 2 3
Having 40 gathering turns the other day was so nice... and got me thinking how regularly stressed I get over dwindling food resources when I don't have time to coli. It's pretty wild that you can be max level in a resource and only come back with 1 thing per turn.

So why not tie bonus gathering turns to the size of the lair and how many dragons are in it? It kinda makes sense, since more dragons eat more, and from a lore standpoint there are more dragons to delineate gathering jobs to. It could be 1 more turn per lair upgrade, or each major lair upgrade comes with 5 more turns, or every 10 dragons in the main lair nets you 1 additional turn, etc.

I anticipate there being some discourse over the potential for multi accounters to get huge lairs and then farm for eggs this way, but here's how I see it: it would take a ton of treasure to even get to that point, and you could even make it so that scavenging turns still cap out at 10 or 15. Maybe you can't scavenge if your dragons are hungry; maybe digging and scavenging goes into a different tab with different turns, still capped at 10 or 15, and food gets their own 10 or 15.

I also anticipate debate over this being a detriment for users who sell food for dragon cash, and that could be a valid point, but I'm not sure how big that userbase is to begin with. Thoughts?

This has been brought up recently. No support. Extra turns don't have to be spent in food, you could use more turns to scavenge for eggs and dig for chests.

I'd rather increase the food drops per venue as I agree that one item (or even 1 familiar) is just not fair when gathering.

Ideally 5 dragons gathering food to feed 5 dragons should be as plausible as 200 dragons gathering food to feed 200 dragons unless Sorineth is too populated to support its apex species, which would be a huge issue for everybody.

The getting extra digging or scavenging turns would really be an issue though, especially during Night of the Nocturne.

I'm for the suggestion, just find a way around that issue like giving bonus turns that are food-only.

I think that, while I ultimately feel like the direct size correlation would be easily gamed, there definitely is something here. I think my personal take on things would be, "make it so that as you get higher level in Gathering, your odds of pulling a single item are decreased", since you already have higher food points available when you get higher level, maybe? Seems like a lore-friendly QoL.

This was brought up, and it was considered unfair to the lairs that keep themselves small on purpose. Which is quite reasonable.

But honestly... that big chunk of turns on the first Fest day (like the big chunk of turns we get on NoTN) was really, really nice.

What we need is actually a gathering overhaul, as levelling, which you cannot opt out of, actually makes it worse the 'better' you get. But what you should get is a force override so that if you're at a certain level, you cannot get less than a given amount.

Lv 1-19 at least 1 items
Lv 20-29 - At least 2 items
Lv 30-39 At least 3 items
Lv. 40 4 items guaranteed, with potential for "bonus" 1-2 items.

I'd prefer an overhaul to leveling, which would benefit all players not just those that choose to have lots of dragons.

My 15 turns now can be spent on scavenging for eggs too. It's up to each player how to spend their turns. I have made a suggestion for this many years back and I still would love to see this. More gathering turns for every X lair slots unlocked, and perhaps also other ways to earn more gathering turns. That being said, gathering does require an overhaul in general (for which I also made a suggestion years ago), but it does not take away my desire to be able to get my grubby hands on more gathering turns.

support, as long as its tied to number of dragons owned in the main lair, not number of slots.

if you have a big lair but only three dragons because you purged or theyre in your den, you dont really need more gathering turns.

No support. Gathering should be revamped for maxing out on gathering levels means more stuff. Lair size should have nothing to do with it.

[/quote] I think the previous poster's objection was because the players that intentionally keep their lairs small would be disadvantaged for doing so, since they could only ever have less chances than our fellows at the rare and valuable gathering items. I'd be upset if I felt like I had to buy a bunch of dragons just because otherwise I'll always be thinking about how many more chances at the things I want from gathering that I'd be missing out on, just because it's not my style to have a huge lair.
