I just double checked on my own, and there is indeed no option to delete your account in the settings. However in their Privacy Policy they state, you can contact the admin team to "cancel" your account, what that may mean. It it not clearly described, so it might mean to just put it "on hold" and not actually delete it. They also say by "accessing our platform", but I have no idea where that might be.
If you wish to cancel your account, you can do so by accessing our platform or contacting us for assistance with the process. Our email is included at the end of the privacy policy.
But with the GDPR you have a right to have your data to be deleted, which they also state:
We aim to provide all users with the opportunity to access, update, and delete their data.
Actually... Now that I had a look at the Privacy Policy, it doesn't even properly state what data they are collecting. According to the GDPR they have to be clear about the data they are collecting. The only place where I might see it, is at the Cookie Consent Banner.

People would just go, create account, make a XX? progen and delete the account if it's not XXX or if it's not the XXY they want.

Meaning that we're gonna have artificial account bloat for the sake of aesthetics.

I want an option to close an account, but if you close your account, you're gone. No making another account after - you're leaving for good.

If all the data on an account were fully deleted, that would remove dragons from the lineages of others that may still exist (and even if they didn’t still exist, I think it would still be weird if you could enter an ID into the scrying workshop and be told it was invalid, when dragon IDs thousands higher generate a dragon.

Heh, if accounts got all their data deleted, would the offspring of those dragons say “none” under parents? We might just have created a G1 factory, haha. I’m also just imagining if only one parent was in a deleted lair, would the surviving offspring say “Father: Riko, Mother: none?” ;P

afaik when accounts are deleted the dragons are simply treated as exalted. so they do remain on offspring lists. (do not know if they show as being on pedestals or a 404 page)

they can definitely close accounts out for people if you contact them about it because legally they do have to be able to scrub people's emails and DOB from the servers (which are required for account creation) -- and frankly i wouldn't be bothered with someone rerolling repeatedly to try to get a triple G1 progen. progens can't leave the accounts they're on so they can't mess with the actual market, and rerolling causes you to lose any ID milestones attached to them which are more valuable/impressive than colors on progens anyway specifically because they're unsellable + you get to pick 2/3 of the colors.

the real questions here are:
whether staff would be okay with going to all the WORK of constantly deleting and remaking accounts for someone who wanted to do rerolls. realistically i think the answer is no, since the support team is already backed up weeks as it is. a button would alleviate that.

whether having a button to nuke your account would possibly make scamming others easier by nature of being able to completely change your identity on a whim without breaking the rules by creating a new account. right now there are so many hurdles (expense of flight + UN changes, stripping and exalting all dragons, deleting all forum posts, and having to deal with a join date and bestiary being permanently listed) that it's basically impossible to TOTALLY change to look like someone else. a button to delete an account to enable a reroll would completely change that. would it be more beneficial than harmful? that's where i'm hung up.

lets go over what we know.

Who would this option benefit? as stated above it would benefit people who want to cheat the systems in place, but it also has the potential to benefit people that may have compromised data on-site that they want expunged.

Who would this option be detrimental towards? well, again with our friends the theoretical cheaters, if they continuously reroll progens it would be a pain for the server to load, as well as the support staff for having to continuously deal with that sort of buffoonery. it would also mean that block lists would be bypassed, because it isn't UncharmingBuffoon who was blocked, it was IrredeemableBuffoon, whom, according to the site, no longer exists, despite being the same person behind the same screen.

as it stands, that acts as more negatives than positives, so i'm going to have to agree with @/Corviknight in which you get a one and done account creation/deletion. if you want an account gone that badly that's more than fine, but getting a free do-over button because you made a few little whoopsies is a nono.

I mean, you could have it so you can only delete accounts older than 30-60 days, to discourage people from rolling for new progens over and over again. Hell, maybe have it be a 6 month deletion

They don't even delete accounts as far as I know. That's not even how the site works.

Even in the cases of people being banned and appealing to come back (where they are allowed to create a new account), those that have gotten exceptions to this 'no restart' rule (where they are allowed to create a new account), or those that have told the staff that they are leaving permanently and don't want their account active anymore, none of those old accounts are actually deleted. They just get locked. There is no deleting an account on FR.

Unless someone knows of a case where an account was actually deleted (please tell me if that's the case) this isn't even possible. There's likely a coding/framework reason why accounts are only locked and not deleted, so there's no way they can just hand the user a button to delete their account.

Wild to me people are arguing against your right to privacy and data on the basis of hypothetical cheating that would be far too tedious and pointless to be worth it.

Anyways, support for a hard reset option for all your hoard, lair, bestiary, treasure/gems, Baldwin + Arlo levels as well as full on account deletion. It’s quite shocking we don’t have the latter already if I’m being honest.

I get too many pings, please PM if you ping and I don’t respond
