TOPIC | Dragon Cave - " Sleeping " Dragons?

Forgive me if this has already been suggested, I generally avoid the forums.

Me and a few other players were thinking it would be depressing if we ever got to a point where our lairs were as full as extensions/monetary constraints can allow, to the point where we would have to get rid of a dragon we wanted to keep to get a new dragon/new blood. I've also noticed people want to keep their babies, not to breed but for sentimental purposes, but cannot because of lair constraints.

I propose a side lair or cave, where dragons could sleep while not taking up space in your dragon lair.

Pros:
-You can have your dragon to look at without it taking up space in your lair
-Dragon will not eat food

Cons:
-Breedability will not go up (if you put it in with 6 days left on breeding cooldown, it will still have 6 when it " wakes up"
-Dragons cannot be sold while sleeping

There could also be some penalty added for waking up a dragon: either some treasure, gems, or a time penalty (i.e. Once you tell your dragon to wake up, it will take 7 days before it completely wakes up and its breeding time will begin going down.) Such a penalty would further prevent it from being abused. It would be more difficult for people to do something such as store their to-be-exalted dragons.

Thoughts? Etc? Theoretically the penalty would stop it from ruining the economy or being abused, and you could still have your dragons sitting pretty to look at without taking up lair space. Once woken up they will go back to taking up space in your lair.

I think that encouraging dragon sales would be good for the economy, personally.

I like this idea!

Especially if the Dragon is unusable while sleeping. It would be a better way to keep extras without abusing the feature. I also like that it plays into the lore of dragons.

Very much support on this!

Personally, I'd be all over getting to keep some fun nonbreeding dragons around, if they didn't require food and a slot in a very limited lair.

Also, the fact that they would be stopped from advancing the breeding cool down would limit any abuse of this system I could think of, makes this a perfect addition.

I think it'd be more likely to be implemented if you just made it a straight retirement cave. Same exact functionality as Exalting (sans the payout), just a more easily accessible link to view all your 'keepers' in one spot. Though at that point you may as well just save their picture on your computer and say sayonara, I suppose.

Who's going to drop 500k+ on lair expansions if you can essentially have an unlimited number of dragons that are still able to be utilized with minimal consequences? I'm not sure simply freezing the CD is enough of a tradeoff.

edit - UNLLESSS it was only an option that became unlocked once you did the final lair expansion, and cost more to clear out a hibernation cave addon. Might still cause a mess with database bloat, though, who knows.

Do like the intention behind the idea, however :p

Added another con (dragons cannot be sold while sleeping.) That should balance it even more.

If there was something like a seven day period for the dragon to wake up, during which the dragons breeding-day reduction does not go down, coupled with the fact that they do not gain breedability while sleeping, I don't think people would abuse this feature; it just wouldn't feasibly make sense.

Say you have to hatch a nest of 3 eggs, but you don't have room to hatch them. Instead of spending 100k on a lair expansion, 3 dragons go to sleep in your cave. Say it takes you 3 days to sell the dragons to again free up spots for those 3 sleeping dragons. That's 3 + 7 = 10 days your dragons would not be gaining breedability. During the 7 day waking up period, they would also be present in your lair, taking up space. Personally, I wouldn't find it worth it to use the system in that way.

Good concerns, though. :)

Thanks guys, nice to know others would appreciate the feature too. n_n

I also love this idea, though I personally think the waking up period should be a little shorter so it was not so long, it seems like a very strong penalty for putting a dragon to sleep, something more like 5 days. That or when it is waking up it eats far less food than the other dragons or it does not take up space in your lair until it fully awakens.

One of the pros to this idea is that you can switch out breeding pairs from time to time if you get tired of one pair or you just need a change of babies and/or selling stock.

@Altan the problem with making the add on only available once you have fully expanded your lair is that no one besides the richest players would ever have the option to put their dragons to sleep. I know a user that just paid 500K to add 5 slots to their lair!!! And even well of players may not want to do that because it is so expensive and then by your plan they would still have to buy the sleeping dragon cave.

I was coming to this forum to post this VERY suggestion! Since another dragon game out there has a hibernation cave system that's pretty awesome. When you run out of room or are saving some for future breeding plans, you can rotate them and store them and then purchase extra space as you go. Even a hibernation cave with 25 or 50 slots would be such a nice addition. Heaven knows I have some dragons I want to hang onto, either for friends who don't have room or funds at the moment or breeding projects down the road, but just don't have the cave space or food cost to justify it.

Making sure there's penalties for storage, sleeping or removal would be a good idea too, so people don't use it as a poor man's lair expansion.

Anyways, +support on this idea as well.
