TOPIC | Lair Expansion
1 2
I don't know about everyone else but the cost of lair expansion is killing me.
But what makes me sick is no matter how many times we expand our lair, and the cost gets extremely high,we still just get 5 extra slot that open up.
I'd like to see this change in one way or the other with something like these 3 ideas.

1) Lower the price for expansion by 5k for the first 3 expansion,10k for the next 3 expansion,15k for 3 expansion after that, and so forth.
It is hard enough to have room for the breeding pairs we want plus to also have room for the random number of babies we gets from our nest as well.

2) Create a Tab in our Liar that is for newborns only that is unlimited space seeing how the amount of eggs in a nest is random and the timer on breeding is long, especially on special breeds which to me is far too long.
Should for some reason the babies are in this tab for too long and they become adults, then they would auto transfer into the normal lair.
If there is no room in the normal lair then this tab would be locked in the sense that it will not except any more newborns until the adults are moved.
This shouldn't be too much of a problem since by this time we should have more lair space before they reach adult and in most cases the babies are sold/auction/traded/raffled by then.
This will help with random number of eggs in the nest taken over our lair.

3) For each lair expansion we purchase, the number of open slots increase.
So for the first expansion it would open 5 slots,2nd would open 8 slots,3rd would open 12 slots and so forth.
For now the way it is,it feels as though we are being cheated on space as we progress in our expansion with the cost getting extremely high but the amount of space that opens up stays the same.

Support. In fact, I think the lairs should be made both easier to expand, and the limit increased way beyond 99 (if the servers can cope with that).

Firstly, it would increase the total play time of the game, because honestly, what do you do on here when you've filled your lair with dragons you like? (Note: this might change when things like the Adventure mode come into play, but as things stand right now, there's really nothing besides collecting dragons and the Coliseum).

Secondly, it would improve the economy. It wouldn't solve the problems completely, because there'd still be the issue of infinite supply, but it would increase demand. Players wouldn't have to pick and choose when buying. For example, I was tempted by a lovely Spiral for sale the other day, but had to pass it up because right now I'm using all my lair space for breeding specific color sets, and I don't have room for any more impulse buys. If space wasn't an issue, I would have bought it on the spot.

(When I say this would improve the economy, I don't mean that it would magically restore the super-high prices, because those were mostly over-inflated anyway. However, I think it would slow the decline, and it would keep the AH moving faster as people buy more often and indefinitely.)

I support the second suggestion (because I have that problem myself right now) but not the first and third. The reason the nests cost so much is it's supposed to be a treasure sink so treasure (and dragons) don't devalue completely and also the fact is, if you don't have enough money to buy the lair space, you aren't going to be able to feed all your dragons.

No support for the following reasons. Lair expansions are one of the only reliable treasure sinks in the game. They don't start getting unduly expensive until the point where it's assumed you'd know how to earn that kind of currency if you wanted. finally, they are incredible for earning a profit with and I mean even when they get to 1.25million. Sure it takes a while for them to pay for themselves flipping fodder or storing fodder waiting to be leveled and exalted, but the bottom line is once they do, they coninue on earning. They are one of the best long term investments in the game, but they do have to be earned and it's up to you to make them a priority. There is no reason they need to be made cheaper just so somebody who spends currency in other areas can get them easily.

For #1 and #3, what about the players who already have very large/fully expanded lairs. Do they get treasure reimbursed due to the cost decrease? Do they magically get another page or two of dragon space? Or do they just have to eat the cost they paid while everyone else gets more for less?

Overall, no support due to this being a needed treasure sink and this screwing over many players.

Pings are disabled.

If writers are supposed to "show not tell," why are we called "storytellers" and not "storyshow-ers"?
I agree with everything Ygdrasil said and I would like to point that that lair limits are an important part of dragon population control just like exalting is. Having a full lair slows down the rate that nests are hatched and having a lab for newborns would defeat this purpose.

No support.

The lair expansions function as a massive treasure sink and are vital to the stability of the economy. Suggestion 2 is also open to rampant exploitation, particularly by dom-oriented flights that are always cramped for space.

Maybe on some of them, but definitely NOT the second. Just wait until you have room to hatch. I agree pricing for space is awful, but it controls dragon pop. But if you really need to hatch a nest, you can exalt, sell some for fodder price, or just rent someones lair space to temporarily store your permas.
