TOPIC | Gathering: /actual/ Leveling *6 YEARS...
1 2 3 4 5 6 7 ... 71 72
So I've been using the Digging option on Gathering and I'm on level 19, going for 20. However I noticed something. Regardless of what level I am, I often hardly bring in any penny jars or treasure or anything at all. The items I find aren't really that rare or not much better than when I was at Lv 1.

My friend told me it's all "random"
............ ..................................
SO WHAT THE POINT IS THERE IN "LEVELING" if you don't actually level? There's really no actual change, it's all still random w. little to no fluctuation in what you're able to get >:-( This is endlessly frustrating and I find it beyond beyond pointless and meaningless really (to call it "leveling" or to even have the option if it means almost nothing).

I think they need to ether be honest and remove the "leveling" part of it or make it so people actually level up and there is a actually change in the randomness of what they get - (Digging, Scavenging, Hunting, Fishing, etc)

What's worse, is I'm actually getting fewer rewards for Leveling up than when I was a lower level, so I'm very confused and frustrated with how the numbers are.

Has anyone else noticed this or is it just me?

so much support.
if there really is a benefit to leveling, I'm not seeing it at all.

there does seem to be a weird trend of less items at higher levels.
I'm getting noticeably fewer, and less useful, items in level 18 Digging - I spend 10 turns on it and get nothing but a handful of junk (salt/gravel/round pebbles etc) and no penny jars, which I used to get tons of.

similar problem for level 10 hunting - still only getting 2-3 point food items (hummingbirds, bats, etc), but way less of them. it's odd.

As you get higher in level you gain access to items that are higher worth/rarer/worth more food points. So, it's not entirely moot.

You may be gathering in a wrong area for jars, chests etc.?

Hello all, I'm replying as this appears to be a bit more of a question. From the Encyclopedia on Gathering:
Each gathering attempt will provide you with a random assortment of items, and net your clan gathering experience. The higher your experience, the larger the pool of available items will be to procure.
It is entirely random but higher levels in a particular Gathering area will pull from a greater pool of items, including higher value items. RNG is fully in play here. Some days will be more lucrative than others. I myself have had some fairly lousy Gathering days followed by some "w00t! Thank you, RNG!" days.

coffee. need coffee.
A larger pool of items is hardly worth it when most of the items are useless and still only worth 10-50T per item. I scavenge mostly. It has been almost a week since I have gotten even a jar, which I used to get at least one of per day. Sure, they aren't lucrative, but they're better than single items (except one or two of them). I know eggs are supposed to be rare, but I got WAY more at level 1-5 than I have 15-18, and I've been on the latter longer.

In addition, a larger pool of items in hunting, fishing, etc. doesn't fix the problem of finding 1 or 2 items at level 15. I'm not that high yet but I know many people that have had that problem. Perhaps in addition to a larger pool we also get a higher chance at the better items and at higher numbers of them the higher our level is. For example, at level 1 you're more likely to get a 2 point food item and maybe 1 or 2 of them but at level 20 you're more likely to get a 5 point food item and a total of 10 items. Sure, that favors people that have been here longer and use all their gathers every day but that's what leveling is SUPPOSED to be. The more time you put in, the more you get out, not "you get a CHANCE at a slightly better item, but you're probably still gonna get something terrible and only 1 thing"

Support to the max. The difference in what you get from level to level needs to be more drastic, so people can actually have a chance of supporting large lairs without having to buy food (or grind the coliseum).

I think the 'bigger pool of items' thing is probably why to good stuff gets harder to find at higher levels - the chances of finding them go from, say, 1/10 to 1/20. or something. in theory.

I support the "more items per a term at higher levels" version.

I've done a lot better at digging ever since I started reading the gathering chart. I pick areas whose drops I really want and it has made all the difference. When I was digging over and over in the same area, I was getting a worse yield of good stuff, simply because that area doesn't drop (for example) gold or silver ore.
The higher your experience, the larger the pool of available items will be to procure.
What this essentially means: the higher level you are, the less likely you are to get anything actually good, because you have so much more junk added to the stuff you can get. There aren't actually more higher value items added, at least not in reality. Higher levels don't net you any more food points, digging doesn't net you anything significantly more sellable, and scavenging actually gives you less valuable stuff as you level. What might be claimed to be more valuable stuff is in reality just shinier junk that might possibly be worth a few extra treasure points when sold from the hoard, but there's so little of it that when compared to what we were getting at level 1, it's maybe ten times less actual value in terms of usefulness. I'd prefer to be back to level 1 in scavenging and still be finding eggs rather than all the junk in piles of 1 or 2 items. |: So.. essentially, the current system is pretty much backwards. >.> The more you level, the less good stuff you get. I definitely support levelling gathering actually giving you better stuff, or at the very least a higher chance of things like multiple high level foods and dragon eggs, rather than a larger pool of what is essentially garbage and lower chance of valuables.
