Idfection's Clan
Clan Info
The Great Sea-faring Tree. It floats upon on the surface of the ocean with a great root system hanging down like a jellyfish.
There are four ranks of dragons. The lowest are called the root-feeders. They are the slave class, and barely get more than the food they need to survive generally. They are tasked with keeping the root system protected, running and clean, which is tough considering most dragons can't breathe water. There is at least one master of the slaves known as the Taproot. They are somewhat looked down on by the highest class but they still enjoy the privileges of the wealthy.
Idfection: The next class up is a smaller class known as the Barkers, they are merchants and generally the only class to travel from the roots to the canopy. They trade with other clans and spread the wealth around the Great Tree. They live just below the branch line begins, on outcroppings on the trunk built using ropes and wood.
The largest and Highest class is the Canopy; it a large and varied class that includes all the richest dragons, and the leaders of the clan
Inside the trunk at the top is a brood nest, where water is carried up through the trunk into a purified pool of water. There are dragons born outside this nest, especially at the roots, but only dragons born here could be considered true members of the clan. The brood parents are a wealthy class of dragons that keep the eggs safe and pamper the hatchlings. Their position gives them a little more power than the average Canopy dweller.
There are several in the lower canopy that are in charge of merchant industries, and perhaps some of these are barkers that worked their way up in rank and money
As you go higher in the canopy there is an even more drastic difference in politcal value, until you get to the top where the figureheads reside.
There is a council that makes most of the decisions, but the two rulers they choose do have a large amount of power of their own.
Held in place by large mythril chains tied to the branches is a small floating island above the canopy where the Hallowed live. They are are the fourth class; a group of augurs and mythics that live outside the laws of the canopy. While they have no direct influence over the laws of the tree, they are the word of God, and lead others in thier religions. they are the ones that decide who is exalted to their god, and they can choose seemingly anyone from any class, thought quite often the rootfeeders are the ones chosen since there is less drama involved perhaps. this power over others was established long ago, but a schism has possibly begun to form as dragons from the canopy become secular and occasionally disdain the choices of the Hallowed.
