Ruby is as kind as few dragons are, and leans perhaps a tad too close towards the eccentric. Some consider her quirks quite endearing -- after all, what's life without a little strangeness to keep it interesting? Others merely ignore these singularities and prefer to focus on her sweet smile, gentle words, and tinkling laughter. Whatever the case, her strange brand of charm never fails to win hearts wherever she goes.

There was a time when Ruby was a wanderer, a leaf content with drifting to wherever the wind blew her. She remembers that time in her life with poignant clarity, and always tells the stories with a light tone and a wistful smile (no one questions Ruby's love for the clan, but it is clear to anyone who listens that she misses the days before the clan found her in the forest). She often speaks of the animals -- she always refers to them as "little people" in her tales -- who became her companions, and the many misadventures they had together.

Most of Ruby's days are peaceful, idyllic even. She tours visitors efficiently and without fail, entertaining the hatchlings to keep them out of trouble. There are days however, when her trademark smile and sought-after stories -- for Ruby is a lovely storyteller, even when she isn't trying -- are absent, and sadness seems to embrace her like a shroud. When these days come, the clan knows it is because someone, usually a hatchling, has asked her "the question" (why do you wear a wolf pelt and bird skulls, Ruby?). No matter who or what, she always answers truthfully ("they once belonged to my friends, the little people. They're dead now, so I wear it for them.").
