The Wanderer's Lullaby

Kierce never knew how he ended up on the crossroads as he just hatched a little while ago. He recalled the dragons working there telling him, that his mother just showed up dropping him off and then vanishing again that day. Whenever he'd ask what she looked like they'd tell him that she was covered in cloaks so no one ever got a good look at her.

Fast forward that very day a group of merchants passed by the Crossroads and overheared the other dragons talking about the lost hatchling. While the whole matter could be all but a misunderstanding, it would be irresponsible to just leave the hatchling to itself. After the crossroads dragons and traveling merchants discussed the situation they thought it best that the young one would join Dalcenti and his group on their travel back to their home. The crossroads dragon would certainly keep their eyes open for the mother and send word, whenever they would find her. But to the day, no message arrived on the matter.

So, he joined a wind tribe--Clan Àidhear. Kierce got along well with the members but was neither to attached or detached to them, he was in odd limbo in between. The Pearlcatcher would often wander in search of his mother or any clues of her whereabouts, but has found nothing usefull until the day. He would occasionally stop by his adopted clan but most of his time was spend out on his search of anything to lead him to her.

At some point a fellow clan member, a Nocturne named Loki, began accompanying him on some of his journeys. They formed a sort of semi-friendship. They didn't need each other, they just preferred having each others company.

So, the boy was mostly satisfied with his life, but he kept searching the only memory of his mother being a lullaby he remembers from when was still an egg.

Entry 1 - The Journey Begins
Date: June 23, 2019
Location: Windswept Plateau - Sunbeam Ruins
There was a buzzing in the air. Dragons were running around, whispering in the open while avoiding dark corners. Passing by, there was one name that was uttered over and over again: 'Pandora'. And while some sounded panicked, even more voices seemed annoyed and very determined to get going. This years Brightshine Jubilee was embedded by a kind of ‘pronunciamento’, a call to all those of clever mind, strong claws and enduring patience. Standing in the middle of all the fuss was an opened box. Actually, a mythical artifact and a whispered name. Listening closer, the whisperers were painting a dark picture. One filled with sorrow, mischief and discord. Describing escaped prisoners ready to plunge into disaster everything they touched.

During the last few days, Kierce had spent a lot of time with the Paladins of Pandora. He enjoyed being with them and hunting down dark spirits, but something back home had pulled the dragon back before the task was completed. Eager to find out what had happened, the traveler rushed through his obligations and did manage to return to the Sunbeam Ruins just in time for the beginning of the festival! Looking around, it seemed like the Paladins had already taken care of the dark spirits. So Kierce decided to have a look around.

An advertisement from the Light Archaeological Guild caught his attention – particularly the words ‘very old’ and ‘very dangerous’. Didn’t it sound like the perfect place to spend a Jubilee at? That rescue mission was a heaven-sent opportunity to go on another adventure. Interested parties should report to the Sundial Terrace and look for someone named Knossos. There was a ring of merchant stalls around the Sundial, strolling visitors congesting the streets while the sun was just reaching high noon. Kierce kept his eyes open and finally spotted a few clusters of dragons near the Sundial’s shadow – but only after a kind merchant pointed out for the adventurer, with a little warning about them included. The Pearlcatcher gave his thanks and approached Knossos and his group.

After listening to the discussion for a little bit he realized, that Knossos, Tundreus and Ariadne where about to enter the Labyrinth not only because they wanted to hunt for treasure. They were about to rescue their friend Celia who had disappeared there just a little while ago. Right the kind of adventure Kierce was looking for! So he joined the little group and entered the Labyrinth. A statue of the Lightweaver rested in the center of the first room and while the left entranceway had a bust of a Pearlcatcher standing near it, the right one depicted an Imperial. It seemed like everyone wanted to go in different directions: Knossos was sure he and Celia had walked the Imperial path when they first came down here, while Ariadne thought it to be the Pearlcatcher door. Tundreus at the other hand could already smell the treasures behind the next corner and wanted to have a look behind the Lightweaver statue to see, if there was a way forward.

It seemed obvious, that Ariadne knew Knossos and Celia quite well. She might have her reasons for doubting her friend – maybe he had some trouble with directions? Anyway! The Pearlcatcher decided to trust Ariadne’s knowledge about her friend and teammate. He took her side on taking the right entrance with the Pearlcatcher on it. His own breed on the door could only bring them luck ... right?
