bexbianism's Clan
One Fine Day; In The Middle Of The Night
Clan Info
Our progenitors were not warriors when they left in search of Home.
Our Mother left the Spines as soon as her wings could carry her, intent on making a place in this world where we could grow and flourish without looking over our shoulder at the Quiet One in his Observatory.
Our Father followed her, worried at her hardheadedness and soft heart. They drifted through the Strand, searching and searching and never settling for more than a few months at a time- until they found it.
A tree, massive and old and gnarled and hollowed out by several generations of bird and creature seeking refuge in its heavy trunk. Beetles skittered to and fro, and Our Mother pounced on them easily- she made peace with the ant colony that had a heavy nest at the base of the trunk; in exchange for enchanted sap and the stamens of tree flowers they would bring her news of good hunting ground for insectivores such as us.
And so, Mother and Father settled into our Home and spun the first nest, deep in the center of the tree. With the Spring came younglings, wiggling and blinking in the light- and Father taught us hunting and showed us how to sneak through the ruins for what he called Bits and Bobs, and Mother taught us of stars and magic and to live for the story.
We lost them, several years ago- gone to the service of the Arcanist when they saw that the roles had changed, and we now cared for them with gentled claws and the lullabies Mother sang to us as the trees bloomed.
But we remain. Our tree now boasts a clan of 49 strong and still growing. Two tundras have come to us; Castle with grey fur and a low voice that could coax the mountains to crumble came first- young and scared and separated. Upon adulthood, he moved heavy stone to help fortify the tree's trunk and patted dark earth to help our ant colony extend their territory as well.
Secretmint came to us from a fellow clan, quiet and nervous. She resides firmly under Castle's wing, with her youngling- Orwen, of Ophion.
Two visitors from an allied clan are staying with us as well, helping to train the new Wildclaw as well as Boanne the Quiet.
We are very much here, in our own kind of harmony. Please stay a while, and listen to the stories we tell- we've gotten rather good.
Take care not to bother the ants, though. They have quite the sting.
