The Slumbering Clan

Five years ago, these caverns on the outskirts of the Hewn City were home to a large, nameless clan of misfits, founded by five outcast dragons seeking a place to belong. Their lives were carefree and relatively peaceful. Many of the residents thought the clan's prosperity would last forever.

Alas, those days are gone.

Now, frozen in time, the original clan slumbers deep below the earth, their lives now bound only to fraught, Shade-touched dreams. The dreaming clan has mostly been forgotten by the rest of the world. Some of the locals still recall to whom these lands truly belong, but none, save the most foolish, dare venture into the depths, fearing that the miasma that stole the lives of these dragons still hungers for more. Most steer clear out of superstition.

That is not to say that these lands have remained uninhabited. A small band of dragons has made a new home at the mouth of the original caverns, taking advantage of the hoard of supplies that the sleepers left behind as it struggles to carve out a place for itself.

A new outsider has also taken up residence in the caverns as of late. A young, unnamed Gaoler has claimed the deeper caverns as her own, swearing to keep the contamination of the miasma contained. While she occasionally looks upon the other outsiders with disdain, she has not yet interfered with the new clan.
