Sharptooth1701's Clan
Hufflepuff Pride!
Clan Info
Tyna found this area abandoned and decided to start her own clan in its ruins. Of course, being in Nature territory, it was far from being completely empty. Huge sturdy trees tower towards the sky and familiars dart around the trunks and play in the branches.
Each dragon’s lair is composed of two parts. The first amounts to a giant burrow nestled into the roots of large trees. It is a warm cozy room, lit with lanterns and full of pillows and blankets. It serves as the main sleeping quarters, because it is always easier to keep warm in the winter and cool in the summer when under a tree, than in it. There are tunnels branching off each dragons den that connect it with others of the clan.
The second part of each dragon’s lair is accessible only by climbing, as flying is made difficult due to the tangle of thick branches that threaten to catch the wings of anyone who tries to fly more than a few wing-beats off the ground. Every tree in the clan has a spiral-staircase or ladder (depending on the size of the tree) that leads up past the first few layers of boughs until they are no longer visible from the ground. They are made of sturdy vines and branches that seem to grow from the tree as if it was the natural way of things. The Nature dragons have a way of communing with the trees and plants and convincing them to grow in certain ways. The staircases above the dens reveal that every tree in the clan is part of a city-style network of tree houses, one for each dragon and each with its own wraparound porch, connected to its neighbors by bridges. The whole thing is lit by a combination of lanterns and bioluminescent plants and insects, which makes the clan sparkle and glow quite warmly.
The clan’s eggs are kept warm in a sort of natural greenhouse – a grove of plants and trees, whose interlocking branches insulate the eggs and keep them safe from the elements. The bloom of leaves on a nature egg isn’t just part of the egg, but a sapling growing alongside the baby dragon. When the baby hatches, the sapling is to be planted and cared for with the same amount of respect and love that its sibling dragon is cared for. As the dragon grows, its deeds will be carved into its tree, and if the dragon ever dies, its tree will serve as a grave marker.
